Hello Argentina! Meet The Stylish Madam President (SLIDESHOW)

The Huffington Post   Nour Akkad First Posted: 05/03/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:10 PM ET

Cristina Fernandez

You couldn't find this stylish woman at the first ladies gathering on Wednesday night because as President of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was meeting with Obama, Gordon Brown, and the rest of the G-20 leaders.

Kirchner honed her sense of style as Argentina's first lady (she succeeded her husband in office), and is known for her love of designer clothes and handbags. Her purses and stilettos almost always match her bright colored ensembles. Sometimes nicknamed "Queen Cristina" and the "New Evita," this Latina leader means serious business when it comes to fashion.

Which look is your favorite? Check out the slideshow and chime in below.

If Mrs Kirchner's management of her nation were one-tenths as impressive as her sartorial style, Argentina would be in much better shape today.

She looks good and unashamedly feminine.

Love it! It's so disappointing when women in power de-feminize in order to fit in with their male peers. Better for women to embrace their brains and femininity.

LMPE...yeah, I'll bet Che Guevara looked really good covered in the blood of the innocent people he murdered.

Her husband Nestor* was one of the new wave of Latin American leaders in the 21st century elected in reaction to the US's policies (others, of course, include Brazil's Lula and Bolivia's Evo Morales). Argentina, to be certain had suffered near financial collapse. And so, Nestor Kirchner handed the presidency over to his wife Cristina.

All in all, that country has produced Che Guevara (whom my mom has always considered very handsome) and hot babe Cristina Fernandez. Keep 'em coming, Argentina!

PS: Alfonsin (his first name was either Saul or Raul, I can't remember which), Argentina's first democratically elected president after the 1976-83 military junta responsible for "the disappeared", just died recently.

*Whenever I hear that name, it reminds me of the butler in the Tintin books.

Now she is a dish!

Her clothes are too garish and she wears too much makeup for her age. Past 30 more means less in makeup and clothes.

I think shes attracted to barack obama.

Argentinian women all tend to wear too much makeup. This is true for most of Latin America, with the exception of Brazil.
