Sharif has to be seen as a demagogue who can change colors with the seasons. Like other would-be leaders, his fatal flaw is not being able to judge others ambitions. He appointed Musharraf head of the military when he was president because he thought that Musharraf was not ambitious, only to see a turn around and have himself removed as president. The key to understanding Pakistani politics is that they are just learning how to be democratic and how to keep religion and military considerations out of decision making. Very difficult.

Isn't this just a call for more payola from the US Gov? The Plan from President Obama is to eliminate this free money to Pakistani government as it was merely lining the pockets of a few rather than actually helping the people?

He complains a bit too much!

People of Pakistan elected him twice. And are still willing to elect. He also helped lawyers to restore the judiciary.
