Ed Begley, Jr., Bill Nye To Meet This Weekend

For the first time ever, Bill Nye (The Science Guy) and Ed Begley Jr. will both share a stage this Saturday for a talk during the 2009 PSEG Greenfest Expo. What's sure to be a cage match is wisely the last keynote talk of the day; presumably to give paramedics and Hazmat officials a chance to remove bodies and clean up any toxic debris.

As we've mentioned in the past, Begley and Nye have engaged in a "friendly" war of the words over who has the greener lifestyle; with both sides upping the ante each year. Nye moved into Begley's neighbordhood a few years ago and has been installing high-tech green gizmos galore; with Begley keeping a close watch on his progress. "Without Ed down the street pushing all of us to live a more environmentally-responsible lifestyle, I wouldn't be so motivated to crush him like a bug," said Nye in a 2007 interview.

While I don't know a great deal about Mr. Nye, aside from what I've seen in the news, and his appearances on the Weather Channel and such, I did find him to be very funny on the last season's episode of Stargate: Atlantis that he was in, in which a climate change experiment went wildly out of control, lol. He and apparently a couple of other real life scientific folks were guests on the show and set about making parodies of themselves in what I would say was a half comedic, yet half serious espisode that dabbled into realities that were all too real for us at times.

I don't like the way Bill Nye scoffs at the idea of extraterrestrials. Other than that I like both.

Begley needs to write a book on how to go green. It would be very helpful. The other guy looks much nerdier.

I want to thank both Ed and Bill because of their efforts to keep their solar systems at peak performance, they are always on the roof during the show cleaning their solar panels and this has lead to more business for Solar Maid than all of our advertising combined.

Funny how people just don't get it (importance of clean panels) until they see someone doing it on TV.
