Robert De Niro Nanny Sues For $40,000

NEW YORK — A nanny who was fired by Robert De Niro has sued the actor for more than $40,000 in overtime pay.

Alexis Barry says in court papers that she was never paid for more than 750 hours of overtime and never took 10 vacation days. She began working for De Niro and his wife, Grace Hightower, in August 2006, and says she was fired 10 months later _ after she said she was going to quit. The couple have an 11-year-old son.

Barry says she is owed more than $40,000. She filed a lawsuit Friday in Manhattan's state Supreme Court.

De Niro spokesman Stan Rosenfield says he can't comment because he hasn't seen the lawsuit.

Your post is nothing but speculation based on generalizations about the rich. You certainly don't know what their financial arrangements were nor do you have any idea whether they wanted things done for free. I've personally know rich people who wanted things for free and those who didn't.

Give me a f***ing break! $40,000 is WELL over a year's pay for a nanny taking care of little kids--an 11 year old is a piece of cake--you provide housekeeping and chauffer services--no actually "nannying". Smells like a horse$#!t claim to me.

a lot of them do; and the reason is because if they get fired or quit, the celeb doesn't want them going public with intimate details of the family. then, when they *are* fired, the unscrupulous ones threaten to spill (or spin, ala the Rob Lowe debacle) the beans. i am sure some of the more bizarre families make them sign contracts in an attempt to keep the muzzle on. also, a lot of these "nannies" are on call 24/7 and do a lot more than caring for the kids. some of them are treated like indentured slaves. just my opinion, and it is based on reading probably not the kind of books usually used as a reference in any legit research paper. :) spring is here, and i am happy and unusually chatty and simple-minded. :)
