The tax day tea party movement is gaining steam, as TV celebrities and political figures try to glom onto what might be a burgeoning populist groundswell. Neil Cavuto and Sean Hannity of Fox News will join events in Sacramento and Atlanta. Newt Gingrich will be in New York. And on Friday Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) proposed to make a law honoring April 15 as National Tea Party Day.

Vitter's got a Web page that says "millions" of Americans will join protests "to register their displeasure with our government's addiction to wasteful spending, bailouts for big business, and higher taxes."

Before they register that displeasure, Vitter wants them to register as Citizen Co-Sponsors of his effort to "force the Senate to recognize this day as a formal protest by the people against these policies."

An organizer of the tax day protest outside the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. told the Huffington Post that several Republican politicians -- it now seems Vitter might have been one of them -- had asked to speak at the event, only to be rebuffed because, as the organizer puts it, "We're not a function of the Republican party."

Newt Gingrich might be an unwelcome guest at the event in New York if anybody reminds protesters that the former congressman flip-flopped to support the bailout of the financial industry.

CNBC's Rick Santelli, the man whose barely-intelligible cri de coeur brought this whole thing about, will not be participating in any tea parties on tax day.

The Huffington Post wants to have citizen journalists at as many of these events as possible. If you think you'd be interested in attending one of the Tea Parties and reporting back to us with dispatches, photos, or video, click here to sign up. We'll contact you shortly with further instructions.

NOW the Rethugs care????

And the Golden Globe for best acting ensemble in a comedy goes to the Rethugs.
And the Golden Glove for best actor in a comedy is a tie, John Boehner and Eric Cantor.

Instead of a Golden Globe, I guess it should be a Razzie.

David Vitter won't be interested in tea on their tea day. He will be their trying to scope out the hookers for a night out. This is how he has to find his hookers now. He needs something to camoflague his activity. The hooker man thinks he is slick.

I propose we throw some GOP congresspersons and Senators into Boston Harbor?

Looks like Vitter might be more interested in the National Triple Chin Day.

So what's the goal of the tea baggers? To form a 3rd party, or re elect the screw up Republicans who made the mess in the first place?

Their motto:
Trillions of dollars spent on Iraq? That's patriotic!
Proposed investments in renewable energy, education, and healthcare? That's socialism!

It's that simple. The entire Iraq War, from start until now, has been financed through debt. I didn't see any tea parties before Obama took office.

the teabaggers are still going at it. they obviously enjoy getting together for group teabags on weekends.maybe it will replace sunday afternoon football, or maybe they can just teabag while the games are on.

Good. They will all be in one place and we can throw them overboard into the harbor, instead of tea.

I think we should all go with our used tea bags and bombard these fools. Just like they can protest, we can protest their ignorance.

I find this a very interesting proposal. The Boston Tea Party was the destruction by protesters of property belonging to a private business to protest taxation "without representation".
Can one deduce from Vitter's sponsoring of this that he believes:
1. He and other members of Congress are not representing the citizens of America?
2. Private citizens destroying business property is a right guaranteed by the Constitution?

Gee, maybe we should have the mainstream media investigate the potential un-American activities of Vitter, Bachman, etc who are inciting rebellions.

Vitter DOES know that this is not the kind of party where you bring booze and hookers, doesn't he?
