SNL: Madonna And Angelina In Weekend Update Adoption-Off (VIDEO)

During "Saturday Night Live's" Weekend Update, Madonna and Angelina Jolie sparred in a baby-off.

Madonna was just denied a second child from Malawi while Jolie has adopted kids from Cambodia, Vietnam and Ethiopia.

Madonna, played by Kristen Wiig, told Seth Meyers, "I love babies, but I especially love getting babies from crazy places."

Moments later Jolie, played by Amy Elliot, interrupts and challenges Madonna over who has babies from more exotic locales.

I'm sure Jolie is annoyed with Madonna by now; for the second time in three years she gets sucked into another Malawi adoption disaster, even though she has nothing to do it at all.

"I think her and Angelina Jolie have some serious mental complex that sees adopting foreign kids like owning exotic pets. Just as people who master these different pets feel empowered, these two women feel empowerment in their sense of maternal mastery over foreign children. There are PLENTY disadvantaged youth of ALL colors right here in the US to adopt, but that wasn't quite exotic enough for them. They had to go to the source countries and try out their fake accents while imitating Mother Theresa. It's also insulting to the host countries on several levels."

totally agree with you on this one. I think people get the misconception that we don't Mercy in a loving family home, but the fact that its Madonna makes it seem like only she is capable of helping Mercy, that Malawi is incapable of caring for its children, and in extension the whole of Africa is incapable of caring for its child population as well. Certainly may be the case in some places, but no country on this planet is without its orphans, and when one megastar feels she has the ability to just fly into a country and take a baby away because she's rich and she supposedly gets whatever she wants, that makes it seem like only a rich, white lady is capable of caring for the needs of any African girl or boy, Malawian, Nigerian, Cameroonian, Congolese or otherwise. There are many countries in Africa that are bringing up children in much the same manner of care as any of the western countries, but most people wouldn't acknowledge that because the media likes to portray a one-sided view of Africa as this desolate place where no one wants to live. Not the case for every child. I do hope that Mercy is found and adopted who loves her and is willing to do what is necessary to successfully adopt her. If Madonna was willing to do so, this wouldn't be an issue now.

HA!! Great skit! Kristen Wiig nails Madonna perfectly -- even the pretentious accent to a T -- and Amy Elliot is a dead ringer for Angelina. Part of the reason the dialogue is so hilarious is that it's easy to see the two of tehm facing off over exotic baby adoption. LOL!!!
