Obama Chia Pet Pulled From Stores

Walgreen's stores in Tampa and Chicago have pulled the "Chia Obama" from their shelves, after some customers complained the plants were racist.

According to Walgreens spokesman Robert Elfinger, Walgreen's store managers can choose products to market in their own stores. But, after the store's higher-ups began receiving complaints, they ordered the chia pets off the shelves.

The Obama Chia also made a brief appearance on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange last week.

The Chia Obama will still be available at chiaobama.com.

Because white women are the most privileged in society (despite soft sexism they're still put on a pedestal) and they don't share in the racism black women deal with. No matter how much they beeeetch and whine like they were in chains too, white women pushed for lynching laws so they could win suffrage in 1909. And white women benefit more from Affirmative Action than anyone else, because if forced to hire a non-white male, employers prefer them 1st and black women 2nd. Learn about these things so you won't look so sad asking childlike questions.

That's the awful, ugly thing about racism - it infects everyone and everything, and rather than getting to the root of any problem, it just creates excuses for us all.

Why/how/when did Chia become racist? How do people look at that and say "RACIST!" I don't get it... they make Chiapet things shaped as all sorts of people and things... why is shaping one as Obama suddenly racist?

this is in poor taste, but can someone please explain to me how the chia pet in his image is racist? I don't get it... really... I'm Black also - but I just don't see racism in this. Sometimes I think white people are more sensitive to things that appear racist than black people are. Racism certainly still exists but sometimes we are off the mark.
