Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage is selling his Bavarian castle, Schloss Neidstein, and he says it's because of the economy.

"Due to the difficult economic situation, unfortunately, I was no longer able to keep it," the actor told German celebrity weekly Bunte. "Even if Neidstein castle is no longer in my possession, it will always have a firm place in my memory."

He supposedly hasn't visited in almost a year.

Cage bought the property in July 2006, which includes a 28-room castle on a hill in the middle of 395 acres of forest.

It needed extensive renovations, only some of which he completed.

News the Oscar winner was selling the castle surfaced last week. Cage reportedly sold it to his German advisor. Fortunately he still has another castle, Midford Castle in England, which he bought in July 2007.

I know how he feels. I had to sell three of my castles and my jet. Times are tough, indeed.

Nick, Nick... what can I say, what's really important in life, is... are you storing up your treasues in heaven? MAT. 6:19-21 Because you look like a smart guy and I'm sure you know "that time and unforseen occurrences, befall us all." ECC. 9:11

Bye the way... We love ALL your movies!!! My family and I met you in Memphis, Tennessee - I believe it was Elvis's 25th anniversary. My wife and daughter are crazy about you... not only because your a phenominal actor, but you remind us of our son. We lost him in an auto accident, in 2001 he was 33. Everyone use to tell us that, YOU looked like him.

I think restoring historic castles is a worthwhile enterprise. Much of the money go to master craftsmen to do the work of building and wood-carving, laying tile and painting. If it wasn't for people with extra money there would be no restored castles only ruins. There are worse things to do with money, just as there are better things to do with no money than sitting around being jealous of, or angry at, people who have it.

I live in Upstate NY and I really wish somebody would start buying up some of our old barns. They're a wonderful part of our history and most are slowly falling down and disapearing because of neglect.

I realized the other day that bubbles aren't just caused by irresponsible borrowing, easy money policy, lack of regulations. What you need most of all is someone with a lot of money that doesn't know what to do with it. Humans were designed for struggle. That's why we have talents and abilities. That's why we are intelligent and cunning. We need it to survive. So, if people like Nicholas Cage and countries like China, Saudi Arabia, or whomever, hadn't built up all that extra cash, more than they could ever know what do do with, would the bubble have been possible? It seems like a rule of nature that when people, countries, companies, banks, anyone, gets their hands on way to much money, no matter how smart they were doing whatever it was to get it in the first place, they end up loosing it, wasting it on plain stupid stuff... What the heck were those Chinese and Saudis thinking buying all those treasuries in the first place? What was Cage thinking buying that Castle? Now look where they are?

Every bubble that ever happened in history, and that probably ever will happen, needs one thing above all else: someone with too much money, who naturally has to think of something smart to do with it. And wham! Oups! If you have that, then you'll get irresponsible borrowing, easy money policy, crushed regulation, and whiz bang experts.

Wow... Nicholas sure does have a lot of money!

Oh and BTW: The IRS code now treats these additional homes quite differently so they are not as attractive a way to shelter your BIG money from being taxed...
Pay your share or "go Home"...

America is finished with GREEDY folks and we need to "weed them out" at all levels; this is a GREAT start!

LET'S PUT ALL GREEDY PEOPLE ON NOTICE

Well, that answered my question about why he would want to be buying castles.

It's sad to see that the most useful members of our society are hurting as badly as the rest of us. Pretty soon they will be as bad off as teachers and paramedics. You know, the people who don't really do anything important.
We should all quit going to the movies and watching TV all of the time. Maybe then Hollywood would know how the rest of the country is really doing. Plus, it would free up all of those wasted millions into the economy.
