On his show Monday, Glenn Beck enlisted the help of Popular Mechanics to debunk an internet rumor that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) operates concentration camps in the United States.

Beck, known for his apocalyptic views, had come under fire for mentioning FEMA camps, though he claims to have always doubted their existence and promised to either show viewers the camps or prove that they didn't exist.

Monday, he appears to have done the latter.

Beck hosted Popular Mechanics editor-in-chief James Meigs, who reported that, based on his magazine's independent investigation, videos on the internet said to have been of FEMA concentration camps actually included footage of an Amtrak repair facility in Beach Grove, Indiana. The video reportedly comes from a woman tied to Timothy McVeigh's militia group.

"There is enough out there," Beck said. "We don't need to make stuff up."

Don't need to make stuff up? But then his show would get cancelled.

Let me update all viewers regarding the FEMA Camps. I viewed the "Youtube" video about a year or so ago. Im a fairly knowlegable person regarding Railroads and Passenger Service. I have been past President of The Delmarva Rail Passenger Association, past member of the National Association of Railroad Passengers, National Railway Historical Society, Great Northern Historical Society, Southern Pacific Historical Society and Milwaukee Road Historical Society. The video of Beech Grove Indiana is the main Car and locomotive repair and rebuilding facility of Amtrak and has been since Amtrak started on May 1, 1971. The facility was turned over to Amtrak From Penn Central and was built buy the New York Central RR for Passenger equipment overhaul and repair. Amtrak has the Beech Grove site and the Bear, Delaware shops that do minor repairs. I went thru Beech Grove back in 1989, which was 20 years ago, I know but the only change is updated equipment and older buildings that have been raised. As well they show Automobile Carrier cars - commonly called "Tri_levels". They are enclosed to keep folks from damaging cars from throwing rocks or whatever at them. They are not for transporting people. They are nothing but steel and sheet metal.

Glen Beck's smirky derision only making me wonder what he's hiding. Glen Beck's job is to lie to us.

Our country doesn't lie us into wars, it doesn't torture or wiretap. Glen Beck tells us so. Then when the proof comes out otherwise Glen Beck tells us we should really be hating the New York Times, Michael Moore and the rest for showing us otherwise.

We saw the way the police acted during the party conventions and it was shocking. We know about the "no fly" lists. Are detention camps within the realm of reason?

this is not about the car and locomotive facility; it is about facilities KBR was contracted to construct throughout the US

Mr. Glen Beck would you please debunk unicorn sightings? I want to know if these creatures exist or not. I am tired of living on the scary edge.

The Fox organization has done some deep and wrenching soul searching as of late. To attempt to make amends for the past travesties of journalism, they looked deep into the morals mirror and saw Glen Beck's image.

So it was seen...So it was written.

To the GOP and right wing wing-nuts ----

GET OVER IT - YOU LOST THE ELECTION AND YOU ARE NOW IN THE MINORITY. IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR GONADS ARE BEING SQUEEZED THAT'S THE FEELING YOU HAVE WHEN YOUR GUY JUST DIDN'T GET THE VOTES NECESSARY.

GET USED TO IT - THE NEXT PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS 2012.

OBAMA IN '12

PS. The next congressional election is 2010 - get ready for even more losses and sinking even deeper into the morass of despair known as being way, way out of the money.

I saw a very small segment of the pieces on both nights by Beck. Surely, any sane person doing real investigative journalism can prove, one way or another, if what is being touted on both sides has any validity. Is that in fact a train repair factory. Should be easy to prove or disprove. I can't remember the other instances Beck cited, but again any responsible journalist should be able to prove or disprove the story. So, before anyone goes off on a tangent, can we have some factual evidence to back up both sets of statements!

If one statement is true and the other false, how in the hell does one provide "factual evidence to back up both sets of statements"? By its very nature, the false statement would not have any "factual evidence" to back it up.

Glenn Beck announced this, and as he announced it, his entire base praised science for the first time in their lives.

Nice to know that Glen subscribes to the ever intellectual and deep thought magazine Popular Mechanics.
(with apologies to my 13 year old boy alter ego who loved PM)
