Anti-Gay Auditions: Actors Stumble Over Same-Sex Marriage Attacks

Here's the National Organization for Marriage's new anti-same-sex-marriage scare ad:

The Human Rights Campaign has released a report detailing the ad's inaccuracies, which is great. But the HRC has outdone itself this time by tracking down the audition reels of actors stumbling over ridiculous NOM lines like "the clouds are dark and the winds are strong, and I'm afraid." The auditions are after the jump.

I think the NOM may be on to something.
It just might be possible that after 30 years of faithful and fulfilling marriage, raising 3 decent kids and sharing my life with my best friend and lover, removing the legal barriers to same-sex marriage will provide the push I need to abandon my wife and explore this exciting and attractive alternative life choice.
Perhaps my wife has similar thoughts - hadn't considered that until now but hey, maybe she has been faking it.

The best explanation for the fervent paranoia exclaimed by the anti-gay forces is two fold:
1) They generate fear so that they can control peoples behavior and mold them to be more like themselves - thus validating their narrow minded view of the world.
2) They generate fear so as to provide a barrier between themselves and the "perverted" behaviors they find themselves drawn to.

In either case, fear is the tactic and the tool, not logic or reason - and never love or understanding.

The actual commercial is so over the top it would be funny if it wasn't so serious. As a Canadian, where same-sex marriage has been legal for a while now, I just don't understand what some Americans are afraid of. Even before same-sex marriage was allowed ministers and priests could refuse to marry a couple based on a variety of things - they don't even really have to give a reason - it's their choice. There's no law that says a clergy person has to marry anyone. Anyway - it's all so silly, Canada is the same country it always was ... just now same sex spouses receive the same legal rights as other couples.

When people of a different way than you are going to "destroy" your marriage then you have a sad idea about what your marriage is in the first place. At the start of the 1960s, people thought that miscagenation would destroy the family in America and lead to all the children being hated and outcast. Little did these people know.

Now the fact is that marriage in America is a transient affair at best for most people and not a "blessed holy union". As long as two individuals who are human and have the legal ability to give consent, want to get married, it should be their decision, but one that is done wisely and after a great deal of thought. Unlike most heterosexual marriages in America today.

"The storm is coming!" Man this is just pure hate. How does my marriage get effected if two guys or two women are allowed to get married? You gotta wonder even if these actors actually believe in what they are saying or if they are just doing it for the pay check. Come on how low will you go for a couple of bucks. The plasma center is always paying. Heck I respect a porn star more than an actor who peddles hate.
