Salma Hayek Prince

Prince has the hots for Salma Hayek. As Us Weekly points out, the Jehovah's Witness praises the star in his new song "Valentina," which happens to be the name of Hayek's 18-month-old daughter.

"Hey Valentina, tell your mama she should give me a call/ When she get tired of runnin' after you down the hall/And she's all worn out from those late-night feedings/and she's ready for another rock and roll meeting," the lyrics go.

Prince also expresses interest in Hayek's good pal Penelope Cruz.

"If Penelope wants to Cruz there ain't no way that we ain't gon' dance," Prince sings.

Hayek has served as musical muse before. Boy band O-Town serenaded Salma in 2001's "Liquid Dreams":

Angelina Jolie's lips to kiss in the dark
Underneath Cindy C's beauty mark
When it comes to the test well Tyra's the best
And Salma Hayek brings the rest

As a middle-aged female, I must say I had the hots for Prince back in the 80's when he was at his peak. Not sure why - he is so not attractive and so not my type. But he does perform with passion.
I always thought he was gay - my biggest surprise was finding out he was a JW. If he knocked on my door I would probably invite him in and let him give me a copy of the Watchtower...LOL!

Selma Hayek is the most georgous, beautiful woman on the planet.
I can see why Prince use her as a muse.

Man, when did any man like snakes as much as when she danced in From Dusk 'til Dawn?

Always wondered how the entire movie crew kept from passing out!

People who dog Prince have the same mental state as those who dogged Mozart. I mean if people know anything about music, (most don't !!), they could look listen to the way he composes music and see this man was a gift to the masses. All the bass lines he has but together. Drums and cymbal syncopations. A piano player that plays like a classical pianist. One commenter said that he never saw him play all the instruments long enough to tell if he could played them all. He must be a youngin. I've seen him play drums, bass, piano, lead and acoustic guitar which is a very hard guitar to master. Not just playing but playing like he's been playing them forever better than anybody. He may not be the arranger he once was but I dare anyone in the world to come up with any, and I mean any cymbol syncopation that he made up in the group he produced, The Time, in the song 777-9311 at the beginning. Many more examples are out there. Nuff said.

Still probably TRUE. Mozart was "dogged out" for his improvisasion skills. Prince was very similar in this regard.

777-9311 is a nice and funky one-measure pattern.
Corrections:
this is a drum machine pattern. Probably an old Roland or a Linn. The pattern is not cymbals, but on hi-hat patch.

"better than anybody????" this a wild exaggeration. You mean "better than anybody" within contemporary urban pop genre. Maybe.

Fro examples of cool one man bandmanship check out Mike Oldfield, 'Ommadawn' and 'Tubular Bells.'

Let us forget better than, and respected by most Rock guitarist.

I believe the only reason Prince doesn't get the recognition he deserves for his guitar playing is because also makes R&B.

Most rockers and Rock critics don't respect R&B.

Musical elitism at it's best.

Yea I know it was a drum machine, but the point was neither in pop, rock, rap, country, you nor I or anyone else composed something like that. No one can play it on real drums. I heard he could and the only person I saw live who halfway played it was Jellybean, the drummer from the TIME. I know there are a lot of multi playing people out there, Jara Harris, but open you ears. They laughed at George Clinton and his crew back in the day. Now even White people see the light. Sharps can be played against flats if you composed them right.

I remember reading somewhere once that he was fluent with a huge number of instruments by the time he was like, 15. Don't know if it's true, but he really is a genius; whether you like what he does with his talent or not.

......... "gift to the masses" ?????
Mass insanity maybe but certainly , no "gift".
A "re-gift" maybe --- to be sent along to the next sucker , like a chain letter.

Nuff said.

It's silly to compare musician's skills; they're all different, no matter how good they are. That said, Prince is a brilliant musician and showman. I saw him perform on TV within the past year, and he's still damn' good. I like a lot of musicians; crazy helps, in my opinion- just look at Bob Dylan.
