Salma Hayek Prince

Prince has the hots for Salma Hayek. As Us Weekly points out, the Jehovah's Witness praises the star in his new song "Valentina," which happens to be the name of Hayek's 18-month-old daughter.

"Hey Valentina, tell your mama she should give me a call/ When she get tired of runnin' after you down the hall/And she's all worn out from those late-night feedings/and she's ready for another rock and roll meeting," the lyrics go.

Prince also expresses interest in Hayek's good pal Penelope Cruz.

"If Penelope wants to Cruz there ain't no way that we ain't gon' dance," Prince sings.

Hayek has served as musical muse before. Boy band O-Town serenaded Salma in 2001's "Liquid Dreams":

Angelina Jolie's lips to kiss in the dark
Underneath Cindy C's beauty mark
When it comes to the test well Tyra's the best
And Salma Hayek brings the rest

I thought this story was kind of cute until I read down to the part about
O-town's "Liquid Dreams".
Eeeeew!

Prince is talking to an infant about how sexy her mom's breastfeeding must be and you are offended by O-TOWN?

Selma is beatiful, and men, they can be disgusting like this and let their lusts lead them to behaving badly (bringing her child into it? Not cool). Prince is not the first or the last man to act like a pig. That being said, I still love him, he rocks! His is the only concert I'd stand in line to see.

Actually Prince is celibate and Selma and he are good friends. I think the song was a tribute to Selma's daughter.

Have you read the lyrics???? If that was a tribute to her daughter, then we have a REAL problem.

Even fans like Howard Stern are turning on him, like him talking about his disappointment at a private show that Prince played that he walked out on.. Then again, if you do a private show and call for no lights while you play, I would think that is pretty flaky and walk out as well.

Prince has fallen far... these lyrics are bloody awful.

I just saw Gui Boratto live at a club called Nectar in Seattle last night... the people were going crazy, and ON A WEDNESDAY! This, to me, is just further testament to how far music has moved on, and how little interest real Music People seem to have in these 'stars' that are either unwilling or unable to progress, or can actually produce lyrics this trite and simply terrible and foist it on the public with a straight face.

I did not get the Jehovah's Witness reference. why was it included in the story? What does his religion have to do with the song, or Salma Hayek? Am I missing something, or is there some sort of implied discrimination going on?

A few years ago he said he was no long the nasty Prince we knew (and loved) and was very vocal about his newfound "puritanism" and denounced his past fixation on all things sexual to the point of self-censoring and vowing never to perform is more racy songs. Guess that didn't sell.

Prince's relevance ended in 1995.

that just proved your ignorance here. he is possibly the greatest living musician. he still plays hoards of instruments flawlessly, writes, produces, records, etc. his own music AND is one of the best living guitar players. He is here still, and still making amazing music - i just feel bad for the people who don't get his genius.

I agree with everything you say and had the pleasure of seeing him perform a couple of times. Both from yards away. BUT, the man can be a bit indulgent and could use a bit advice about editing. Not everything written even by a genius musician is a masterpiece. Prince would do well for his legacy to learn that lesson.

Take that Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Sykes and Eric Johnson, Prince is better than you!.. Apparently, Prince is still making good music too, as evidenced by the subtle, deep, touching and well-crafted lyrics of the aforementioned song... (rolling eyes).

One of the best living guitar players? Think again. The guys listed below can play rings around Prince, plus there are quite a few more I could list offhand. I've always liked a few of his songs though.

btw if you want a good laugh watch An Evening with Kevin Smith, where Mr. Smith gives us a first-hand account of His Royal Badness' weirdness.

I'm very well aware that he can play 22 instruments and can record everything himself. I get his genius enough to own everything he's recorded from 1977 up to the Gold Experience.

After that, his music is unimportant and far from "genius." Sign o' the Times, Purple Rain, Dirty Mind and 1999 were examples of genius. Musicology, Rave unto the Joy Fantastic, and New Power Soul were the furthest thing from genius he could have possibly recorded.

He's been coasting for the past 14 years and I feel bad for anyone who doesn't get THAT.

He didn't have far to go, but he's creeping into Michael Jackson territory now. At least he could have called Valentina "Tina" and not referenced Salma or Penelope by name. Leaving it for us to decipher. But then again, he's desperate for attention and subtety may have gone under the radar. Poor pathetic man.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't tacky enough to write/record that AFTER she got MARRIED.

According to the "new" Prince who's apparently a devout Jehovah's witness. Who doesn't even sing "Darling Nikki" anymore because of the racy lyrics.
