NEW DELHI — An Indian news agency says a blaze at a fireworks factory has killed at least 23 workers and injured 48 others in western India.

The Press Trust of India news agency quotes Yogesh Pawar, a medical officer, as saying the injured are being treated at a hospital near Jalgaon, a town in western Maharashtra state. Pawar puts the death toll at 23.

Well these kinds of products do tend to go boom and from the looks of it it was a really incredible boom.

Sorry about the loss of life, always a tragedy.

India is right behind China when it comes to human rights abuse. Most of the firework companies like Sri Kaliswari and other big manufacturers don't have any regulations and employ underage, underpaid children to manufacture the fireworks. They don't provide them with any sort of health-safety gear and are exploited.
