CHICAGO — The news is hitting Chicago deep dish pizza makers' eye like a big pizza pie.

President Barack Obama is having 140 people over to the White House Friday night for a some deep-dish pizza _ St. Louis deep dish pizza.

It seems during his campaign he had pizza from a restaurant called Pi in St. Louis. That's the story Pi assistant manager Lindsey Tornetto tells.

Whatever happened, the restaurant says the owner and his partner packed dough, cheese and pizza pans in their suitcases and flew to Washington.

It all has Marc Malnati _ owner of 30 Lou Malnati's Pizzarias in the Chicago area _ shaking his head. He says he likes Obama's economic policy, but thinks the president's pizza policy should change.

Hey, I live in Chicago and I don't care. I don't even really like Deep Dish. There's a pretty famous one I tried a few weeks ago and it was "good." But really, who cares? Nobody!

Isn't it great that our first "Green" President has no problem flying pizzas across the country.

I am fascinated by the business model of Pi in St. Louis. A green sustainable pizzeria! And their website is well designed. Good choice Mr. President. I will have to check it out the next time I go to St. Louis.

I'm originally a Kentuckian. A few years ago I ordered 10 pounds of Corky's of Memphis BBQ FedExed to San Francisco, for an after-shoot party. My hometown paper paid no attention whatsoever; and rightly so. Glad I'm not POTUS.

I've had excellent pizza. And from this photo, it looks flat and not enough
toppings to be wonderful. If I get invited to the pizza party at the White House
I'll bring back a report.

Well, that's five minutes of my life I'll never get back. I can't believe I'm even posting anything, but it's too absurd not to make fun.

Look out Pulitzer, whoever broke this story is a true journalist. For certain, with everything going on in the world, where the President orders pizza from for one shindig is at the top of my priority list.

Of course that is why he ordered Pizza from St. Louis! How silly of me not to think of that angle. Everyone in St. Louis will now line up to vote for him because he bought their beloved pizza not because they think he is a good president. Pretty funny.

So I guess no one's upset that they are flying in people to make pizza...buy some F'ing Boboli. I don't get politicians...it's just embarrassing. The position of the President supposed to be one of modesty, at least that's what the founders wanted. I just don't know what to say.

Try saying nothing when you don't know what you're talking about. As you read on you will be quite embarrassed by what you just said.

Hello did you even bother to read the article. Learn how to form an opinion after you have all of the facts!

I did read the article and it made no mention that the chef was paying himself. You are lying to cover your messiah's hypocrisy.

We might be upset if that was true but it's not!

The pizza parlor owner is doing this at his own expense--commercial airfare, pizzas and time--because he's going to DC to see his girlfriend and loves the president.

I'll give you a minute to find something else to express fake outrage about . ..

Bone up. The owner of the restaurant was on TV and specifically, unequivocally, said that this is NOT on the taxpayers dime, it's on his; said that he knew that people like you would start your sniping and phony outrage. He said it was an HONOR to cook for the POTUS, gratis. So, now you don't have to worry about "what to say." Just shut your mouth.

Gotta agree with you there. "Deep dish?" Pfft. In New York that's called Sicillian pie. And anyone who would put pineapple and ham on a pizza should be taken to the woodshed, in my NY opinion! ;)

As I type this, I can't believe I am commenting on a story, the only purpose of which is to promote a pizza chain I have never visited in a town I seldom am in. Please somone stop me before I respond yet again to something that is so unimportant. Moreover, I feel I must say...
