I Like ItI Don’t Like It

CHICAGO — The news is hitting Chicago deep dish pizza makers' eye like a big pizza pie.

President Barack Obama is having 140 people over to the White House Friday night for a some deep-dish pizza _ St. Louis deep dish pizza.

It seems during his campaign he had pizza from a restaurant called Pi in St. Louis. That's the story Pi assistant manager Lindsey Tornetto tells.

Whatever happened, the restaurant says the owner and his partner packed dough, cheese and pizza pans in their suitcases and flew to Washington.

It all has Marc Malnati _ owner of 30 Lou Malnati's Pizzarias in the Chicago area _ shaking his head. He says he likes Obama's economic policy, but thinks the president's pizza policy should change.

C hrist! The guy can't even eat a pizza without being ostracized. This is front page news, tho. I'll give you the follow-up headline for tomorrow's edition, no charge......................."Obama suffers flatulence attack, after eating St. Louis pizza! Michelle locks him out of bedroom!"

They scrutinize everything President Obama and family does. Every little thing, a national issue is made of it. What in the hell is wrong with a president having pizza night? Nothing is wrong with it.

I agree with that. Doesn't the press have anything better to then waste their time on stupidity? What a waste of time and money. Press look for better stories. Stories that actually matters and are important not the Pres. Obama ordering pizza!!!. Doesn't this man get any privacy?

Safe to assume this was done for Free right? Cant beat this kind of advertisment and I can not imagine using tax dollars to pay for this.

I am sure the president paid for this out of his salary. That's the kind of man he is. He would not charge the taxpayer for this nor would he allow anyone to do it for free. This is a president who pays for everything. Even when a restaurant wanted to give him his food on the house, he said no, I will pay for it.

He pays for things that other presidents charged taxpayer for, like redecorating the White House. The Obama's paid for that out of their own income.

I've never had pizza in St Louis but the Italian restaurants on the Hill have some of the best Italian in America.

Hey, I thought the direction we were taking now was EMBRACING diversity, not condemning it.

hey Stephen...have you even ever been to St. Louis? Have you ever eaten at Pi?

If the answer to either of these questions is no, than I say sit down and quit being so callous.

we have better italian food (and pizza) than Jersey, even...

With 2 young daughters he should be making pizza with them. It's fun and it tastes better (IMHO). However would not do that for 140 guests...

St. Louis, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, K.C., L.A., etc.; all good local Pizzas, but not world class.
THE BEST Pizza outside of Roma, Bologna, Parma and Napoli is found in New York.
THE BEST Pies in New York are found in Hoboken, New Joisey ( Bayonne is also very good ).
Thin, Medium or Thick well baked ( not burned ) crusts with only the FINEST, FRESHEST ( Citterio of Milano ) ingredients from the old country ( this includes ITALAN top quality cheeses ).
A Speck ( smoked Prosciutto ), Peperoni with either green or black olives ( or both ) with your favorite Italian Wine or Birra ( or a bottle of Pellegrino Mineral Water if you don't indulge ) is to die for; when you fold the slice ( N.Y. style ), the Premium Extra Virgin Olio D' Oliva starts dripping down your hand into your arm if you're not careful.
St. Louis is for Ribs, not Pizza.

Eh. To each their own. Sometimes I want an extra traditional pizza and sometimes I want something different. For most whatever you grew up with is the best pizza. Ever.

Oooh a real Napolitano margherita with fresh mozzarella di bufala, dripping with olive oil, a basil leaf all cooked in a wood fired oven..How I miss my days of living in bella Napoli. You could buy it by the meter and it cost less than 10 euro..Now I can order a nasty pizza from Papa Johns and when all is said and done, pay twice that and feel bloated from all the chemicals in it..

As one who has made a deliberate lifestyle choice to be eat both deep dish and thin crust pizza (Yes, I am proud and out to be bi-pizza),there is no better deep dish than Due's (Chicago), Uno's (Chicago) and Ginos (Chicago).

Best thin crust is Little italy Manhattan.

Dear Readers and Editorial Manager,

Can we please take a page of the Brits media policy and NOT print pictures of heads of states, royalty or presidents caught stuffing themselves with food.

It's just so very unbecoming.

Can we get a little classy about this?

Paleeeeeeze!
With honey and sugar and Louisiana cinnamon sticks pleeeze!

I actually prefer St. Louis style pizza. Thin crust, provolone cheese cut into squares. It's all about the ingredients.
