I Like ItI Don’t Like It

CHICAGO — The news is hitting Chicago deep dish pizza makers' eye like a big pizza pie.

President Barack Obama is having 140 people over to the White House Friday night for a some deep-dish pizza _ St. Louis deep dish pizza.

It seems during his campaign he had pizza from a restaurant called Pi in St. Louis. That's the story Pi assistant manager Lindsey Tornetto tells.

Whatever happened, the restaurant says the owner and his partner packed dough, cheese and pizza pans in their suitcases and flew to Washington.

It all has Marc Malnati _ owner of 30 Lou Malnati's Pizzarias in the Chicago area _ shaking his head. He says he likes Obama's economic policy, but thinks the president's pizza policy should change.

He has a taste for the pizza, sometimes I really want White Castles, I wouldn't say it's my favorite burger. If I'm in Vegas I got to have an In and Out burger. If I'm in LA I got to get a Jack in the Box, Tennessee Crystals. When your President and you get a taste for something you don't have to go anywhere. Now it's a news story he wants a slice of pizza because he's President, he'll get Lou's or Gino's East or Leona's pizza when he's here and it won't make the news. Who am i kidding, it'll be on this site.

If you don't get the tacos from Jack in the Box then it is hardly worth the stop!
You could get them and White Castles along with all the Obama pizza all in St. Louis!
And lets not forget the toasted ravioli which was a St. Louis invention.

They don't make tacos at White Castles or pizza, but it's not about the taste it's about getting something you can't get in your hometown and I guess the taste a little. Jack in the Box reminds me of my trip to Hawaii when I was 18, Crystals Grandma's house in Tennessee. Krispy Creme moved to Chicago 5 years ago and it's not the same, the taste is the same but the felling isn't there, I have to have a taste for it now. On your suggestion, QTPie I'm going to try the tacos at the Box, when I'm on the west coast, this is something I learned early, always trust the locals and if your ever in Chicago go to Leona's for deep dish. My Brother in Law loved Gino's East, it's ok too and I think the Prez just wants a taste of nostalgia.

Pi makes both deep dish and thin crust (St. Louis style). Provel cheese is a St. Louis favorite and does indeed stick to your teeth, Provolone is better. It's the sauce and thin crust that makes St. Louis pizza' better than most. We may be overweight, racists and boring here but we do eat well.

Sitting here right now with a slice of pizza, but I like all kinds, even sometimes Lou Malnati’s. But, I would rather have D’Amato’s or Armand’s... Hey, relax people. It’s pizza.

There's a pizzeria in Tucson that ships in water from NYC; they claim that it's the water that makes New York pizza superior to anywhere else in the country. Never had St. Louis pizza, but Chicago's famous pan pizza cannot hold a dough wad to New York pizza. Pizza from Napoli, Italia is supposed to rock all others, including New York, but after watching Gamorrah, I wouldn't advise going.

I live in Chicago, grew up in St.Louis.....I didn't vote for Obama and I think this whole flying in pizza chef is a useless indulgence.
However, for all you St. Louis Imo's Pizza lovers you can order it frozen and shipped to your door.
You can also order Pasta House Salad dressing and 5 pound blocks of provel.

I don't know why they call it pizza in Chicago. it's good. It's interesting but it's not pizza. It's not even Italian. It's some sort of casserole.

Even in Chicago we have different kinds! People remain the same however. Judgmental! The best sushi I ever had was in Austin! But, I have yet to make it to the Tokyo fish market.

If it's a deep dish pizza, it's roots are based in Chicago.

Chicago approves, Mr. President.

Hey Chicago deep dish is some excellent pizza (Giordano's!!), but it's not the only pizza in the world. Obama should try some of the NY varieties as well. There's some good NY style pizza to be had.

I've eaten at Pi in St, Louis and it is somewhat unique and different from Chicago pizza. not better or worse, just different and unique. I can see why he would like to have it again. I am happy for the owners of Pi to have this exposure.
