The Hill:

Allies of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) are using recent reports that President Obama will address immigration reform this year as an opportunity to raise funds for the Arizona Republican.

Jason LeVecke, co-chair of McCain's re-election finance committee, penned a letter to hundreds of Houston business leaders urging them to attend a fundraiser for McCain as a way to show their support for comprehensive immigration reform, the Houston Chronicle reports.

This is quite a laugh...didn't Johnny call Obama, "that one" during the debate and now he is raising money on "that one's" ideas.

Why is President Obama pondering another Amnesty, when back in 1986 the Sinpson/Mazzoli bill was made law? It was signed by Ronald Reagan and Liberal Sen.Ted Kennedy swore their would never be another AMNESTY. The Act made it illegal to knowingly hire or recruit illegal immigrants, requiring businesses to attest to their workers immigration status. The law granted amnesties to certain illegal aliens who entered the United States before January 1, 1982 and who had resided here continuously. It was mainly for the sake of 3 million agricultural workers, but once again was mired in fraud and dishonesty. It might have worked, except the next waves of illegal families started pouring through wide open border, demanding even more rights from the American people. So the question simply is?

Why ANOTHER AMNESTY? It’s because previous administration intentionally never intended to enforce the laws back then or today! As usual the American people have been played for fools! Anything that smells of enforcement has been killed or weakened, to clear the way for the free movement of cheap labor. The heritage Foundation has analyzed the consequences of a new AMNESTY. Which will not only give 40 million illegal families, even more access to government benefits? Then afford them the right to sponsor whole families, whom will end up being another financial burden on taxpayers.

Unlike the last Amnesty the people are very much informed via the Internet of the consequences, and will lay siege to every Senator or Representative.

I would suspect that we agree on little politically, but we do here. This is not just a matter of those here already being legalized, it's all their families coming here. Many of the illegals now are single men who send most of their money back home and legalization will mean demands for their whole family to come here. The politicians will be happy to play to those demands for "family reunification", because they do it now. Most of those people will have little education and, as you say, will become eligble for a wide range of benefits, like the earned income tax credit. It's a big part of California's problems now. We simply cannot keep accepting the number of people we are accepting. Nor will many people admit that this population increase is a huge strain on our environment.

"Intelligent, competent and well-read"? Last week, in Eurpope, someone asked him about Austria, and he replied, Sorry, I don't speak Austrian". He travels everywhere with his teleprompter, because he is lost without it. But that's ok. When he tries to push amnesty, he will have it shoved down his throart. Even mainstream Democrats are sick of illegal immigration, and the overpopulation, gang warfare, and other problems it causes.

New times demand new political strategies, not old and tired formulas that no longer resonate. The GOP doesnt have a clue. In fact these same businessmen would love to hire all the cheap labor they can get.
The more we keep harping on the pros and cons of illegal immigration the more immigrants keep coming. God bless them all............
A man's got to eat and have the right to feed his family.
I ask you all, what would you do in their circumstance?

So we don't have the right to say who comes here or not? Is there a limit? And you're the first one to complain about "cheap labor", but what you're proposing is more of the same. Are you willing to work for a dollar an hour?

Really? There is a law on the minimum wage. If immigrants were legalized, they would demand their rights (instead of hiding) and level the playing field.

I think it's hilarious that he needs to raise money. Shouldn't a very wealthy person who was also chosen by the second-largest political party in the nation to run as their representative for president JUST LAST YEAR have access to enough cash that he can get himself reelected to the Senate. No??? What does that tell you?
