I Like ItI Don’t Like It

A news clip from KTUU in Alaska, pulled by HotAirPundit, features a bizarre back and forth between Alaska Attorney General-designee Wayne Anthony Ross at his confirmation hearing in the Alaska State House of Representatives, being questioned by Republican Rep. Jay Ramras. Ramras asked Ross to give his opinion on what Governor Sarah Palin had "done wrong." Ross, who apparently doesn't "like people taking shots at courageous women," offered, "She's been shot at so much, she doesn't want to reach out." Okay, this is pretty par for the course, I guess. Then comes this bizarre exchange:

RAMRAS: She was wearing Arctic Cat gears and leathers--

ROSS: She was provocative. She looked really good didn't she?

RAMRAS: Yes...[beat]...Well no, not to a lot of Alaska she didn't. To a lot of Alaska she looked like a walking billboard.

Alaska: we're all professionals here.

What do you expect from the man who said. " if a man can't rape his wife who can he rape?" Great choice Palin. And we thought she wasn't ready to lead the country.

If Sarah looked like Margaret Thatcher she'd still be the Mayor of Wasilla.

My point is that Palin's looks has a strong effect on people, male and female. This is a major factor in her star power, IMO, and without it I don't think she has enough substance to be rising in national politics.
And I think that's something to complain about. Her records and behavior indicate to me that she's not a desirable leader, but I think many of her fans aren't overly concerned with those things.

Ever notice how you never see Sister Sarah and your local street prostitute at the same time?
Well, that's unkind.
Sorry to the working gals.

Hey Johnny (hero) McCain...
Thanks for all the Palin entertainment.
What a choice you had for America just when America needed a good laugh.
Good choice Johnny.

McClatchy Headline: 'Those Crazy Palins'
By Warner Todd Huston (Bio | Archive)
April 14, 2009 - 01:51 ET

OK, before we even get into the latest banal attack on Governor Palin's extended family perpetrated by the McClatchy newspaper chain, I would like to ask a few questions about "Those crazy Palins: Todd's half sister indicted in break-ins."

Has McClatchy ever had any headlines like this: "Those Crazy Kennedys"? After all, there is a wealth of craziness with that demented clan. Or since we recently had Obama's half brother denied a visa to England over his rape charges -- not to mention his illegal immigrant aunt -- how about a headline like this: "Those Crazy Obamas"? Did we ever see a headline about "Those Crazy Clintons" when we discovered all the financial misdeeds and drug busts of Hillary and Bill's extended family? How about Carter? Did good ol' Billy Carter ever cause McClatchy to say "Those Crazy Carters"?

But, not so with Governor Palin's family. Nope, for the Old Media, it is open season to ridicule her as much as possible. And just before the 2010 midterm elections, too! Imagine that?

So, I wonder if McClatchy thought it was all "crazy" and stuff when a certain Senator drove off a bridge with his gal pal in the car with him? Wasn't that "crazy" enough for McClatchy?

Or is this attack only on the family of Republicans part of McClatchy's "speaking truth to power" conceit?

So Ross is the kind of hot-shot high calibre legal mind that Governor Palin can pull into a cabinet position? Gives one confidence that a GOP Presidential candidate won't have the last name of Palin in 2012.

"She does look pretty good!
"Liberals could learn a thing or two about how to make yourself look good, cause most are not very attractive in comparison!"

You're just as bad as the guy who wants to be our AG.
When it comes to electing or appointing qualified officials who will represent us, what's more important? -- the way they look, or the way they think?

What I thought was interesting was the double entendre between Ramras and Ross. Ramras wanted to open the door to the conversation by bringing up Palin's attire as a "provocation." Ross turned it around, and essentially changed the subject when he said it was "provocative." Stupid thing to say, and certainly not the kind of words we'd like to come out of the mouth of our attorney general.

Demetria - Oh absolutely, I completely agree with you! I believe the inference is that the customized Arctic Cat gear was given to the Palins, in return for the huge press the company would get with the Palin name and Todd/Davis having won the previous Iron Dog. Ramras was (rightly, IMHO) questioning the ethics of her wearing 'branded' clothing at an event in which she was officially representing the state. I don't believe the state or SarahPAC paid for the clothes -- that's not the issue. It's whether it's ethical. Someone said she was a "walking billboard" for Arctic Cat.

Oh to be a fly on the wall of the Palin household these days. It's gotta be tense. I wonder if she's wondering how she's going to managed the next 2 years. I have to say, if this was happening to me, I'd want to quit. Even those her messes are self-made, she can't be enjoying her life right now.

We've finally got some "Impeach Palin" signs up around Anchorage. Wonder if we'll ever see one out here in her home town? I can hope I guess....
