Does anyone seriously believe that Sean Hannity took a college Biology course and passed? And for him to know anything about Botany is an absolute impossibility. This is just a continued result of the Bush/Murdoch cabal's attack on science and education rearing its ugly head.

Bulls#iT.
Of course. Fox news, where else.
And that is NOT a picture of a growing tree. It looks more like it was trimmed off someone's christmas tree.

Wouldn't this story be at least a little more understandable in the context of April Fool's Day?

Total BS, this looks nothing like the picture that was released before. Stupid Fox news.

Did they replant it?

When I first saw this I thought, "wow, this can't be real". Then I saw it was a story from Russia and then knew it was true.

I'm a Ph.D. plant physiologist and have studied conifers. The photo is a hoax--period.
Sprouting spruce seeds do not look anything like that. Furthermore, there is no sign of etiolation which would occur if the spruce seed was sprouting in a dark environment like a lung. And, conversion of protochlorophyll, which is colorless, to chlorophyll, which is green, requires a photon fluence rate much higher than would be available inside a body.

I have oftened wondered how real scientists react (ed) to thie type of crazy articles. Thanks for the scientific explanation to what MOST of us knew was impossible (in a living creature)

Just In!- A small particle, or what doctors are calling a 'scrap' of journalistic integrity was found in Fox TV newsman Sean Hannity . Surgeons on sight said "I blinked three times and thought I was seeing things,"

This is clearly a hoax. It's physically impossible for any amount of journalistic integrity to survive for more than a few nanoseconds in the toxic environment known as Sean Hannity.

It does read prankish, but is not impossible. The object was very small and was probably a sprout of some kind. I'd heard about a woman in the midwest who was caught in a tornado. The tornado got a granary and corn kernels got deeply imbedded in her skin. They sprouted. Ow. Ow.Ow.

There was also the story in Discover magazine about the homeless woman who had relations with a potato, and a sprout from the skin of the potato lodged in her and started growing.

I'm going with the hoax theory.

What is today's date on the old calendar that Russia used up until the Revolution? April 1, perhaps?

As noted by JeffXL, the needles are too green but also, the thing would be covered in puss, the guy would have developed one heck of a case of pneumonia and besides that, the "fir" has much more the look of a spruce twig.

This is impossible

Agree totally; how couln't the needles be poking the lung all the time. He would have died by now. Guess he got a green lung instead of a green thumb.

Has anyone realized that the needles would NOT have been green without sun exposure...I think this is just a hoax!!!
