Newt Gingrich

CNN:

When presidents are new, first impressions really count: Your demeanor (shirtsleeves, not jackets, in the Oval Office), your stature (move over, Mr. Sarkozy) and, of course, your plans for America's future (not to mention your plans for our 401(k)s).

Is that a picture of Sydney Greenstreet?

If (Heaven forbid)Newt had been President and actually done what he criticized Obama for not doing, that is, thumping his chest and "standing up" publicly to those thuggy teen-age pirates, then we wouldn't have seen Capt. Phillips anymore. And I really would have liked to see Newt's face. And what Hannity would have said.

What's the deal with our being assaulted every day with Twitter references? Here, The New York Times, NBC, NPR, it's inescapable. I've see companies go overboard with publicity before but this is ridiculous. Enough with the T-word..

Newt has always made his living as a scold. He tried to lead and couldn't actually handle it. That anyone will pay him for his opinion or invite him onto the talk shows is a mystery. He's a very silly and immature person who speaks with great confidence. Does anyone but Newt take Newt seriously? If so, please tell me why?

Credible (Credibility):

1. capable of being believed; believable: a credible statement.
2. worthy of belief or confidence; trustworthy: a credible witness.

GOP: Neither of the above.

Obstructionist:

1. a person who deliberately delays or prevents progress.
2. a person who delays or obstructs the business before a legislative body by parliamentary contrivances or legalistic maneuvers.

The proof is in the definitions: The GOP is nothing but Obstructionists and not even close to Credible.

The Republicans have given the country a gift: maybe in 10 years, there will be a Democratic Party, a Green Party, and a fringe lunatic Know Nothing Party that consistently gets a fraction of the vote, but doesn't interfere with the real grownups.

Pretty soon the repugs will be blasting the Obamas for how they hang the toilet paper in the White House. There is absolutely no pleasing the repugs...guess they would have been happier if the pirate situation would not have ended so well.

Good for Borger. It seems she is not following the party line at CNN. I especially like her comments about their wanting to be taken serious, it is kinda hard when they act like kindergartners. But I would not expect that this article would reach any of their closed minds.

Twitter could be their downfall ultimately since they obviously do not know how to be discreet. The day is coming

The thing is, the pirate incident wasn't even a particularly big crisis -- just prominent in the news. President Obama did exactly what he needed to do: He made the hard decision, knowing the risks and knowing that if things went badly the blame would fall squarely on his shoulders, and then let the military do what they are superbly trained to do.

All the while, the Republicans were carping and jeering from the sidelines. They were praying for this thing to end tragically, so that they could stand in front of the microphones and express their outrage. When it ended the way it did, they all sulked away to find something else to squeal about.

The Republicans are, to borrow a famous phrase from one of their own, the Nattering Nabobs of Negativity. They have nothing of value to contribute to our country.
