ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska Democrats are blasting Gov. Sarah Palin's decision to travel outside the state this week as the state Legislature's session winds down.

Alaska Democratic Party chairwoman Patti Higgins says much work remains to be done and Palin's decision to leave is an abdications of her duties.

Among the legislation awaiting action this week is a federal stimulus package bill and the capital budget. Lawmakers traditionally take up the budget before adjourning.

Palin plans to attend events in Indiana that include a breakfast with S.M.I.L.E., a nonprofit support organization for people with family members who have Down syndrome.

I love how the tro//s keep posting Sarah is a threat. Sarah will never be a threat because your party do not have the numbers to vote her into office. No fear on this side. There are less republicans in the country. All you had to do was look at the laughable tea party and its sparse crowds. President Obama has a bigger crowd just doing one speech in 1 state!

Wasn't it Sarah who claimed she had to decline a speaking engagement at the last big GOP gathering because she had to be in Alaska for the upcoming legislative session? When are the Alaskan voters reconize this egotistical grifter for what she is? Palin is in a world of her own. She can't even remember what lies she's already told. Thank goodness she'll never go beyond Alaska as a politician.

Honestly, Palin SHOULD consult herself on YOUTUBE before she tells her whoppers.
She doesn´t seem to realize it exists!

Isn't she famous for her MIA "Where's Sarah"? Don't forget she even got paid for staying at home with her children! I wish my employer does the same for me.

The people of Alaska deserve Palin, because anybody who is going to pick that dunce as their Governor needs to have their head checked.
If she is the best Alaska can do, well only the Almighty can help them, but as the saying goes, they made their bed, let them lie on it.

The same can be said for the election of Bush.

I live in Northern California, and against my choice....Arnold was elected Gov. I surely hope that people aren't blaming me for that just because I live here.

Only SOME of the people chose that dunce for their Gov, and all of them cannot be blamed for the rotten decisions.

Yeah right! As if the republicans aren't slamming her. They are slamming her more than the dems are (as you call it). The fact is, she needs to get slammed every second of every day until she resigns or is impeached! Period. End of discussion.

Republicans have been on her case too. They complained about her ethics violations, increasing government, more spending, wasting $500 million on a pipeline that doesn't exist, not getting along with the legislators, and the way she mishandles the media.

Sarah hasn't explained to the Republicans why she appointed a pro-choice judge to the state Supreme Court.

Obviously, the trailer park vote is more important to the governor than making nice with the party leadership. You don't get the G0P nomination without svcking up to those "leaders." Say goodnight, Gracie.

Whatever happened to the days when the loser faded into obscurity? Sarah Palin is a disaster and cost McCain a lot of votes and I am grateful for that. She wages a fight with a teenager in the media (the media she so claims to despise) and its the same teenager she exploited on the campaign trail. She is clearly not presidential material. Its up to the people of Alaska to decide whether they want her or not. If they do, fine but keeping her in the spotlight of the national scene is a distraction from the real issues that face the US and by design the rest of the world.

Those criticizing Obama's travels as a defense for Mrs. Palin are showing their own ignorance. How could the president not attend the G20 summit and the NATO conference? That is ridiculous. Then again these same people are wasting tea bags to protest something that they don't even understand. They are against a tax policy that benefits them the most. I guess Joe the Plumber's BS is more convincing to them than the tax experts.

Obama is proving to be a very good president and in time perhaps will prove to be one of the truly great ones. In the meantime, leave the coverage of Palin to the Anchorage Daily News. By 2012 she will be the blip in the history books that she deserves to be.

Your dear Sarah opens herself up to critisism every time she opens her mouth. Why is it the medias' fault? Is it because they simply point out the obvious? Try to see past her phony facade or tell us what she has done to improve the lives of the Alaskan people. I never hear her defenders talk about Palins' accomplishments or achievements. I don't think there are many to acknowlege. Please feel free to give us some examples of her fine leadership if you can think of any.

THANK YOU!!! I have a dear friend with one child--that child is Downs Syndrome and the hours of love and work that go into caring for the child is inspiring. For months watching Palin has been for me to understand what a terrible situation Trigg is being placed in. You are completely right what Palin has done is abuse, and neglect--and DOES NOTreflect family values.

So any mother of a DS baby has to just, what, quit their jobs and forego their own life?

What planet are you from?

I know more than two mothers of disabled children who are incredible parents and very successful in their professional lives.

You mean throwing her Down Syndrome baby over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes (something she consistently did throughout her failed VP challenge) isn't proper care?

Everyone in the USA and within shouting distance knows by now (or should) that Sarah Palin is nothing more than a callous narcissist who’d use any means, no matter how politically incorrect, to further her self-serving agendas.

As a pediatric PT I agree. I can't believe Trig is not getting services. Perhaps she's too busy as governor to learn what a DS baby needs?

As a mother I was horrified that Palin was so willing to run off on a campaign and be fully willing to take on the second highest job in the land all while having a DS infant and other young children.

I fully believe that a woman can be ANYTHING she wants to be....but I have the integrity and wisdom to know that you CAN'T be a decent mom to a DS infant, a pregnant teenager and pre-teen girls while running America. It's impossible to have those jobs at the same time and do them well.

Sarah Palin thinks she can do it all....and Republicans believe her. Scary. Scary. Scary.

How can Obama be a good father to his two daughters, then, by your logic?

How could Biden be a good single dad while serving in the Senate?

Your statements are ridiculous. If this were a Dem politician you'd be praising her for her strength and ability to multitask being a mom and politician.

I love it when she told the GOP she couldn't attend the biggest campains fundraiser for the year, but goes for dinner with people attending pro life meeting. She used the excuse for the GOP fundraiser that she had too much business to attend to with the legislature now we find out that these same politicans will end their business in a week. What a liar/

The Republicans in the State Legislature are not happy with her travelling out of state this week either. Noone knows what Palin is thinking--just that she could care less about the people of Alaska. Impeach Palin signs have started popping up in Anchorage, and little flags with Palin's photo have been found stuck in piles of dog doo in Juneau. Creative dissent is alive and well!

I would like to know why you attack Palin, but nothing is said about Pelosi or all the travelling by Obama. This is hypocritical. What about the fact that Al Gore travels in his private jets all over the place. Does Sarah Palin really scare you that much?

Because it's the last week and she is supposed to be there. It is her job! Furthermore, she set herself us for all this criticism by pointing the finger at everyone else. If she wasn't such a hypocrite people wouldn't be so critical of her. I don't think anyone is "scared" of her, don't give her so much credit.

And in fact President Obama was furthering the interests of the entire country (as it is his job after all) with his trip. meanwhile Sarah is trying to rack up points with the anti-American wing of your party. So do you have an actual point or just more cut n paste from hate-sites?

First of all you seem to be quite confused as to who is an elected official who serves the people of their state or nation, and who is a private citizen.

Second, Al Gore is no longer an elected official, he can fly as much and wherever he wants because he has no responsibility to voters anymore. If he wants to fly his jet or another persons he is entitled.

As for President Obama and Speaker Pelosi, you have not provided any details of specific travel you feel is inappropriate and causing them to neglect their official dutuies--thus you leave others to speculate your intended message.

The only trips I am aware both the President and Obama have taken since January is in regard to state affairs. Obama has traveled extensively meeting with foreign governments to address the global economy, that would qualify as "state affairs" and definitely relevant to the well being of US voters. As for Speaker Pelosi, she travelled to Italy and the region with other elected officials on matters pertaining to government and also relevant.

So read this carefully and then go back to your post.....see how foolish and irrelevant your statements are? They are, trust me!

On the other hand, Palin has her eyes set on POTUS in 2012. We have to keep her in the news otherwise we run the risk of another surprise Bush.
