Scarborough To Coleman: "You Lost... It Is Over" (VIDEO)

The drumbeat is growing louder for former Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman to drop his long-shot appeal of the state's prolonged recount.

In the wake of a three-judge panel declaring that Al Franken was the leading vote-getter of the U.S. Senate election, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough offered a preemptive and withering criticism of Coleman's likely appeal of that decision to the state Supreme Court.

"Seriously. Norm, I like you. You lost. Okay," he said. "Can we seat a senator so Amy [Klobuchar] doesn't have to do the job of two Senators? It is seriously not fair to constituents in Minnesota to drag this out any longer. It is over Norm, okay. It is over."

Ouch. Somewhere in the halls of the DSCC, people are cheering.

The problem, of course, is that Coleman has no incentive to drop his appeal at this juncture. His last-ditch effort is being cheered on by Republicans in Washington who are doing whatever they can - politically and financially - to work against the seating of Franken (who would be the 59th caucusing Democrat in the Senate).

"When are Republicans going to give up the ghost on this?" Scarborough asked before his mini diatribe.

Additionally, there has been scant political pressure put on Minnesota's Gov. Tim Pawlenty to actually sign the letter certifying Franken's election. That could change in the wake of Monday night's ruling. In all likelihood, however, Minnesotans will have to wait till the state Supreme Court weighs in.

From his days as a super left anti-war hippie in the 1960's to his days as a super right pro-war Bush clone in the 2000's old Normie's first priority has been Normie. Now by delaying Al Franken's seating in the Senate he's making major points with the Republicans and insuring a cushy job for himself when this is all over. I just hope Gov. Pawlenty keeps backing Normie and seals his own doom.

Well, if I were forced to choose one, I'd have to go with Coleman over Pawlenty. Sure, Coleman is clearly a jerk while Pawlenty seems like a fairly decent guy.... But since we absolutely know that, like all Republcans, Pawlenty worships the Ultra Rich at the expense of blue collar USA yet hides it so well that I wonder if he's merely another sociopath who'd sell his grandmother to get ahead...That said, better the devil you know...

It seems he was blown right out of the right wing ranter ratings by Beck and Hannity. Joe's problem is that he's not nearly as entertaining as they are. They all rant the same 'stories' every week so shtick is important. Joe's way to laid back for the new breed.

B & H are closer to TV Evangelists than political commentators. It makes sense when you consider they follow the GOP with the same dog like devotion as anyone who praised with Jimmy Swaggart. I wouldn't be surprised if Arbitron numbers showed a lot of cross viewership between Fox and the 700 Club.

Tim Pawlenty has nothing to distinguish himself other than being an obedient foot soldier for the GOP. Because of the beatings the GOP got from the last two elections when voters became sick of their old standard bearers, Pawlenty and Singh got notice for their youth and not much else. He is good at reciting the GOP lines of lower taxes and opposing any solution the Obama administration proposes.
