Sacha Baron Cohen's gay Austrian fashion commentator Bruno did conduct an interview with Ron Paul, the Texas Congressman has confirmed, as had been reported last month.

Paul just opened up about the encounter on the radio with Curtis Silwa, and he is not pleased, as he thought he had agreed to an interview on Austrian economics.

PAUL: We were in a studio situation. I wasn't invited to a hotel room. A studio situation where they had a lot of lights burn and blaze and all kinds of commotion. They said -- better get in this back room here. And all of a sudden, I was in this room, which they had it all fixed up as a bedroom. So, getting me there was sort of dishonesty. Getting me into the interview.

I was expecting an interview on Austrian economics. So, that didn't turn out that way. But, by the time he started pulling his pants down, I, What is going on here? I ran out of the room. This interview has ended.

When this all gets out, I'm probably going to have to apologize to my supporters because I think most of them are going to figure out why in the world didn't I sock this guy in the nose?

SLIWA: You ran out. But, did you actually see the original Borat film where he pulls these kinds of stunts?

PAUL: No, no. Movies I used to see are 'Sound of Music.' Tonight, I was sitting here watching 'Gone with the Wind.' So, I don't watch that kind of stuff. And I understand he makes a lot of money. But, if he makes a lot of money, I have to permit the market to do this.

I don't like the idea that he lies his way into an interview. That to me is fraud. But, the fact that he has raunchy material and people buy into it, it's sort of sad that that is a reflection of our culture. To me, it's a real shame that people are going to reward him with millions and millions of dollars for being so crass.

SLIWA: And you know he might actually end up using that piece to promote this upcoming film.

DR. RON PAUL: That means I'm helping him make money!

Wow, Ambush that funny. I guess its all okay as long as you don't trash Obama. The fact is Ron Paul is the smartest guy in DC. Obama is a photo opt and clearly a media created President. Very sad, where our politics are these days.

I like Ron Paul, he has it right on Iraq and a few other issues but he is also way out there in right field on more than a few other issues, to the extent that some consider him as batshitcrazy. I don't have any sympathy for letting himself get punked but some comedy actor, he should have investigated a little more throughly BEFORE he agreed to do the interview.

If you rely on others to evaluate the positions of Ron Paul then they are thinking for you.

I agree with gbrooks, Ron Paul is a decent man and was the only presidential candidate who was serious about the economy and about shutting down the Iraq occupation.

Sacha Cohen's movie was absolutely disgusting. I could not sit through it. Where is the entertainment in making fun of other people because of their culture. I could ridicule mr cohen for wearing that ridiculous looking beanie cap on his head, but I do not believe in ridiculing people's religious beliefs. It is hard for me to accept that someone can actually make a living making fun of another culture's customs. How racist can you be mr cohen?

Robert, lighten up... If you were not aware, Cohen's humor is a parody, and a critique of culture. He is also Jewish, and his character Borat is a horrible anti-semite. You may be offended by the crass language or ranchy subject matter, but to view his humor as cruel is naive at best. Everyone is fair game for Cohen, and whatever your views of Ron Paul doesn't matter, all in good fun. ;)

Cohen is Jewish. I think he has a right to poke fun at racism. Especially those who are vehemently anti-Semitic.

Besides that, I'm an independent and considered Ron Paul a pretty rational fellow for a Republican. Ultimate proof the GOP had lost it's mind was ditching Paul for McCain.

Racism, sexism and religious bigotry is culture? No. But is great stuff to make fun of while exposing human hypocrisies.

Paul wanted to eliminate the right to choose in ALL circumstances - even when the woman's life was in danger. He was more monstrous than Pa lin.

Sorry but the war in Iraq and the economy rank way higher on my list of priorities than the "right" of a woman to choose to make a baby and then kill him/her.

That's simply false. He wanted to leave the abortion issues up to the individual states and has said many times that the issue of abortion in case of danger to the mother is to be dealt with privately between doctor and patient.

Sound of Music? Wow, between him and McCain, doesn't sound like they've seen many flicks outside the 60's. I'm not comfortable with leaders this out of touch with our collective culture.

Sure, like Sound of Music and Gone with the Wind are pure junk. You need someone hip who thinks a serial adulterer like Koffe Bryant is a cool dude. Someone like Cohen who makes his money on toliet pranks that entertain a culture that "understands" his pranks as entertainment. You think it's culture? You pick your leaders based on Cohen? Wake up, you've been duped.

Oh wait... that didn't turn out so well last time.

What's with all the hostility for a politician who actually follows the Constitution, is anti-war, anti-government excess, pro-pot legalization and was a good sport about being duped?

For all who say he's a racist, he's a good friend of black economist Walter Williams, he endorsed the House/Senate runs of Amit Singh, an Indian-American, of Murray Sabrin, a Jew. The Texas NAACP president came out in support of him. You shuld read his very eloquent essay on racism.

Perhaps you fear him for his message self-reliance? I'm sure there were racist supporters of Obama, Clinton, et al., Paul is no exception, but I think you folks have forgotten who had the most racist supporters: PALIN.

Having been a part of Ron Paul's grassroots, I'm happy to report that only ONE Paul supporter that I know of (and I knew hundreds) decided to back Palin--and she was a religious n. About 5ut0% of the people I knew who supported him were atheists. What's great is that we all learned to get along for the greater good of civil liberties, sound money/economics, sound foreign policy and despite what you were told, we were a diverse bunch: black, white, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, even an anti-Romney Mormon.

For those of you who aren't aware, a lot of classic liberals backed Paul as well. Many of his former backers also ended up supporting Obama because of the fear of race-baiting wingnut Palin in the WH.

I disagree strongly with Ron Paul's economic policies, but I respect him for being one of the few politicians in this country to openly acknowledge the asinine nature of the "War on Drugs". There is not a bigger waste of time and money by the government than prosecuting people for drug use and sticking them in overcrowded prisons with rapists and murderers.

He also deserves praise for taking on Rudy Giulianni in the Republican debates. He wiped the floor with those neocons after they made statements like "they hate us for our freedoms". Check it out on YouTube.

I like how people are calling out the Congressman's politics as the reason he was duped by Cohen. Come on people, Noam Chomsky was every bit as fooled by Cohen on Da Ali G show. So Paul and Chomsky are somehow discredited because they follow what's actually happening in the real world instead of following pop entertainment? Maybe people should try actually learning about Austrian Economics or read about what's happening in other countries instead of watching BORAT for the eighth time.

The magic of what Cohen does is he clowns people who are normally so serious about things and let's people have a laugh at their expense. At least Paul is handling it with tact, way more than most politicians would that's for sure.

Yes, Ron Paul is out of touch with corruption and dishonesty.

Remember to ridicule him when the dollar is worth 20 cents and the Fed (Banks run by private corporations....nothing federal about it!) which he would have dissolved, devalues the currency even further.
Remember to be entertained by this idiot when you can't afford to put gas in your car.

The truth is that people are out of touch with the constitution and Ron Paul is all about this document.
So be entertained and remember to laugh when the constitution is no longer in effect and the president becomes a dictator.

Smearing the true and honest will always reflect badly on the perpetrator.

For all of you extolling the virtues of Paul and how much of a "good guy" he is, take 10 minutes and do a Google search for the Ron Paul Survival Report.

What you will learn is that Ron Paul is a vehement racist, anti-Semite, bigot, and homophobe.

I chose to read his book where he talks about any racism or biggotry is based on collectivist principles that only serve to pit one group against each other that we need to treat eachother as induviduals and not prejudge. And just because he says we shouldn't endlessly support Israel, he also points out that we give more money to Israels enemies than to Israel itself, wouldn't say this makes him an Anti-Semite. And he's such a homophobe that he supports homosexuals having same level civil unions as all other unions in the country, he doesn't say marriage because it's a religious decission to allow that and not a feature of government to force the church to accept it.

You really need to stop reading slander and get true information.

Ron Paul is this generation's Ross Perot. His merit lies in the fact that he bucks the status quo. However, like Perot, he has waaaay too many philosophical skeletons in his closet to ever be viable for national leadership.

However, that fact will in no way deter all the paranoid borderline schizophrenics who WANT to believe the government is out to get them and outlaw their worship of firearms. Personally, I see their issues as being neurological not political.

Ron Paul is really a fake. He knows does not have to be accountable. He can act like the Republican version of Lieberman because nothing he says gets put on the senate floor for a vote. But he still hangs with Neo-con partiers.
