Sacha Baron Cohen's gay Austrian fashion commentator Bruno did conduct an interview with Ron Paul, the Texas Congressman has confirmed, as had been reported last month.

Paul just opened up about the encounter on the radio with Curtis Silwa, and he is not pleased, as he thought he had agreed to an interview on Austrian economics.

PAUL: We were in a studio situation. I wasn't invited to a hotel room. A studio situation where they had a lot of lights burn and blaze and all kinds of commotion. They said -- better get in this back room here. And all of a sudden, I was in this room, which they had it all fixed up as a bedroom. So, getting me there was sort of dishonesty. Getting me into the interview.

I was expecting an interview on Austrian economics. So, that didn't turn out that way. But, by the time he started pulling his pants down, I, What is going on here? I ran out of the room. This interview has ended.

When this all gets out, I'm probably going to have to apologize to my supporters because I think most of them are going to figure out why in the world didn't I sock this guy in the nose?

SLIWA: You ran out. But, did you actually see the original Borat film where he pulls these kinds of stunts?

PAUL: No, no. Movies I used to see are 'Sound of Music.' Tonight, I was sitting here watching 'Gone with the Wind.' So, I don't watch that kind of stuff. And I understand he makes a lot of money. But, if he makes a lot of money, I have to permit the market to do this.

I don't like the idea that he lies his way into an interview. That to me is fraud. But, the fact that he has raunchy material and people buy into it, it's sort of sad that that is a reflection of our culture. To me, it's a real shame that people are going to reward him with millions and millions of dollars for being so crass.

SLIWA: And you know he might actually end up using that piece to promote this upcoming film.

DR. RON PAUL: That means I'm helping him make money!

So R. Paul cites the movies he watches as Sound Of Music (Nazis) and Gone With The Wind (Plantations and the old south). That tells me everything I need to know.

If Pat Buchanan could take Cohen's brand of humor in stride then so should Paul.

When you think John Galt is a real person, it's real easy to get fooled by Brother Cohen.

People love laughing at others, because they need to feel better than their low-class-selves.
Everyone I know thinks Cohen is a genius, as he makes Americans look foolish.
Why he doesn't do this to England or Israel?
I can see him spoofing the IDF as they raid a Palestinian home.
He of all people could find some humor in that.

Very juvenile and representative of the liberal movement. You guys need to pick your ambassadors a little more carefully...

Ron Paul in 2012!

It's cool Vendetta. Don't worry about it. If the people that post on this forum are true liberals, then they are just prime examples of why I wouldn't want to be one...ever. You can't have a true discussion with one without them taking personal attacks at you.

You say that as though EVERY conservative candidate or commentator that has ever responded to a "liberal" (your word not mine) didn't do exactly the same thing.

Hypocrite.

There is a liberal movt? Pray tell me their address so that I may join.

Sacha Baron Cohen is the ambassador to the nation of Liberal? It seems the guy just promotes himself and takes instructions from no one and Edward Kennedy is as likely to be punked as Ron Paul.

He is just a goofy clown, so relax. BTW, it was smart of Ron Paul to run as soon as he noted that something was going awry, but it would be fun to watch and does nothing to change my regard for Ron Paul.

The reason why conservatives are more likely to be his targets is the same reason farts are funny in a juvenile way. You guys are so full of it, it is entertaining to observe a loud deflation from time to time. You guys should really look up beano and use it. It works .

The Sound of Music - 1965
Gone with the Wind - 1939

Ron Paul isn't even living in 2009. He's withdrawn into his conservative bubble fantasy land.

Ron Paul is very much alive in 2009. What movies you enjoy watching doesn't mean you're "out of touch" with any time period. Ron Paul's use of the internet is what helped spread his message of smaller government, lower taxes, and non-interference in foreign countries. That is fairly "in-touch" with 2009, in my opinion.

Oh yeah, Ron Paul was the one who set up the web servers, wrote the web pages, and coded all the html which powers his whole "movement".

In fact, Ron Paul invented the internet!

That kind of dishonest humor is really beyond the pale. I don't see the good in it.

BTW I saw part of Gone With the Wind last night.

it is as racist to the core. Well done mind you.

But repugnant at the same time.

I wasn't using my voice at all. I was keyboarding. I simply wanted to phrase my statement in a way that the typical Ron Paul supporter would understand. Sorry if it was a bit over your head. I should think you would be used to that by now.

The guys who did the original tea party deal back when Ron Paul was a young man never heard about tea bags. They just tipped some loose tea leaves into the harbor. Also, they were protesting taxes that were not going to be spent here, but shipped to the sovereign in England. Tea bags? That is effete

I'm kinda impressed that Ron Paul can actually give an interview about the Austrian Economy. I doubt 99 percent of us reading this article could do that with any semblance of authority even if we spent the night before googling away (tho we prob wouldn't agree with Paul's views there either, lol). I think the REAL humor here would've been trying to watch SBC try to actually have that conversation.

Ron Paul is one of the good guys, although I'd never vote for him. I totally disagree with his social views, but thankfully he is no hypocrite. This article is a perfect example: he disagrees with Cohen's actions & methods & mission, but still supports his Constitutional rights.

What I find alarming is that someone who is in politics, someone who is supposed to have his ear to the ground in order to adequately represent his constituents, has no idea who Sacha Baron Cohen is. He's been huge for almost ten years now. Reminds me of Bush the First having no idea what a UPC scanner was when he visited a supermarket, even though the technology had been in use for over 10 years! Talk about losing touch with the electorate.

No more or less relevant than any other comedian/satirist. I don't expect an actor to champion health care and taxes. In fact, I wish fewer of them would. Leave it to the experts.

This country is in a mess because people enjoy satire? I think someone who voted for GWB is a lot more responsible for the current state of this country than someone who watches some biting satire.

Nice job explaining to the public how out of touch you really are Ron... Gone With The Wind?? Sound of Music??

Classics, they are.

Made in the last 40 years, they are not.

I love those movies, but I wouldn't say I'm "out of touch". You can't claim someone is "out of touch" by the style of movies they watch.
