Sacha Baron Cohen's gay Austrian fashion commentator Bruno did conduct an interview with Ron Paul, the Texas Congressman has confirmed, as had been reported last month.

Paul just opened up about the encounter on the radio with Curtis Silwa, and he is not pleased, as he thought he had agreed to an interview on Austrian economics.

PAUL: We were in a studio situation. I wasn't invited to a hotel room. A studio situation where they had a lot of lights burn and blaze and all kinds of commotion. They said -- better get in this back room here. And all of a sudden, I was in this room, which they had it all fixed up as a bedroom. So, getting me there was sort of dishonesty. Getting me into the interview.

I was expecting an interview on Austrian economics. So, that didn't turn out that way. But, by the time he started pulling his pants down, I, What is going on here? I ran out of the room. This interview has ended.

When this all gets out, I'm probably going to have to apologize to my supporters because I think most of them are going to figure out why in the world didn't I sock this guy in the nose?

SLIWA: You ran out. But, did you actually see the original Borat film where he pulls these kinds of stunts?

PAUL: No, no. Movies I used to see are 'Sound of Music.' Tonight, I was sitting here watching 'Gone with the Wind.' So, I don't watch that kind of stuff. And I understand he makes a lot of money. But, if he makes a lot of money, I have to permit the market to do this.

I don't like the idea that he lies his way into an interview. That to me is fraud. But, the fact that he has raunchy material and people buy into it, it's sort of sad that that is a reflection of our culture. To me, it's a real shame that people are going to reward him with millions and millions of dollars for being so crass.

SLIWA: And you know he might actually end up using that piece to promote this upcoming film.

DR. RON PAUL: That means I'm helping him make money!

Dr Paul BRAVO for the being the first Republican not to be a hypocrite!

You disagree with Cohen's tactics and material, but as you support free markets and commerce you permit him even at your own damage.

Here we go again, back to the primary days :)

If Ron Paul wanted to be a part of the Libertarian party. Being a libertarian and running as a republican MAKES YOU A REPUBLICAN.

I am a socailist, and a member and activist of the Democratic party. As such I am a Democrat, and if I were to run for office I would run as a Democrat.

And if my party was so shameful and embaressing, I would not walk around saying "Im running for office as a Democrat, but I am really a socialist"

Which is the problem with RP and his supporters, they are caught between a rock and a hard place.
The GOP is simply embaressing, and contradictory to most Libertarian views.

Hey, if RP and other "libertarians" ran on the Dem ticket, they wouldn't need the excuse.
Does that make sense?

Uh. "I have to permit the market to do this." Why is this like one of the ten commandments for so many people? Why can't he just say, people like him and I'm a sucker?

"The Sound of Music" and "Gone with the Wind" are the kind of movies you like? Anything with Judy Garland in it, maybe?

I think Sacha picked you for a reason, didn't he!

According to Slate.com Ron Paul will be featured in the upcoming film as the victim of “Bruno’s” seduction attempt. Reportedly Ron Paul is also featured in the film saying of Bruno, “he’s a queer…that guy is queer as blazes.”

Mr. Paul is so old school

Ron Paul doesn't have a mean-spirited bone in his body. So someone who is totally low class can easily trick him. That says more about the other guy than it does about Ron Paul.

Yea, but... "Gone With the Wind"? "The Sound of Music"? What kind of bones he has is besides the point. What century is he living in? If you really listen close to what Paul is talking about, you always find that he is constructing his arguments from a fantasy. He thinks, like most Republicans, that there is some way to turn back the clock and make America like it used to be.

Like all of them, he is delusional. (I admit, he's my favorite of all the crazies, but... he's still crazy)

Not really: when you adjust for inflation and add in all the times it's been rereleased into theaters, GONE WITH THE WIND is the highest grossing movie of all time.

"To me, it's a real shame that people are going to reward him with millions and millions of dollars for being so crass."

I couldn't agree more. I've always found Cohen and his brand of "humor," which revolves around embarrassing, humiliating, or looking down on people to be offensive. There is a large movement in American culture away from using humor as a way to laugh at ourselves to using humor to laugh at others as a way to make us feel better about ourselves. I'l take Barney Fife and The Simpsons over Cohen and Jerry Springer any day.

jerry springer isn't a comedian. he's a circus master who profits from people who don't mind presenting themselves as freaks. cohen's humor is actually brilliant and enlightening to many who understand his oxford educated perspective. if you are not one of them, don't pay to watch him. barney fife is funny as well. they are just different.

I don't pay to see Cohen. But that doesn't mean I can't criticize what he does.

You say Springer profits from freaks. Yes, but where do the profits come from? From people who watch the freaks because it gives them someone to look down upon. Cohen approaches people from a position of superiority; his humor is "look at what a fool that person is," or "Look how foolish I can make that person look." If it was just Cohen, I probably wouldn't think twice about it. But much of American entertainment is going that way, from the degrading "auditions" of American Idol to all the voyeuristic reality shows. I think it's a sign of a sick, insecure society when we need to laugh at others rather than laugh at ourselves.

Ron Paul is a nut in my playbook when it comes to the economy, but I am with him on this one. This is complete fraud and dishonesty and the fact that we crave for such crass says a lot about what has become of the American culture.
