Stephen Colbert Grills Aaron Schock: "Do You Or Do You Not Have Six-Pack Abs?" (VIDEO)

Huffington Post via The Colbert Report   First Posted: 05/17/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:15 PM ET

Stephen Colbert took Rep. Aaron Schock to task on Wednesday night's "Colbert Report," grilling the 27-year-old Republican from Peoria, Illinois on abortion, Barack Obama's birthplace, and, of course, his famous six-pack abs.

Congressman Schock rose to fame after being voted 'Hottest Freshman in Congress' by Huffington Post readers. He has since become a TMZ favorite.

Cute but not that brainy. Decent with the conversation but it's more like frat bro talk than real investigative journalism. Fun and he's a sport. Should do underwear modeling and leave high politics to the real thinkers.

He didn't do badly, considering what Colbert does to people in these segments, and considering he's just a youngster.

Now Jim Lehrer could teach these politicians a lesson in how to play with Colbert. Or better yet, Jane Fonda - that segment was hilarious.

Well, this interview would certainly have been more interesting if Schock had climbed into Colbert's lap halfway through the interview ala Fonda...

He struck me as not very bright. Most of what Colbert said went straight over his head. He seemed genuinely clueless. Is he one of the few men his age that don't watch Colbert perhaps?

Whats that on Schocks lip -- has Meghan McCain written all over it.

No, look closer with the forensic blue lamp....thats not Megan McCain on his lips....

Colbert flashing "The Shocker" hand gesture made me crack up.

That man is funny... and Aaron Schock actually comes off pretty well in this, I'd guess that wary silence is a good approach when being interviewed by Comedy Central hosts.

He's still a Republican , ergo a hypocrite- votes "no" on stimulus but "hey I'll take the money anyway".

So what? The liberal side of that is voting "yes" for more and prolonged Iraq spending but wanting to bring the troops home ASAP. That's not a sign of mutual exclusivity.

i'm sure he's a very nice fellow, but he came across as clueless actually...'tell us about the fighting eighteenth!'...'uh, wha?' seriously, how did nobody in his office give him copies of shows to review (the 'better know a district' segment in particular)?

and both i and my room mate had a sneaking suspicion he might be a log cabin rebublican...not that it's important - unless he votes against issues concerning such matters, like most hypocritical closet cases do...

someone tell him to lose the 'hair hat' he's sporting.
02:29 PM on 04/16/2009
Too bad that he used his time to improve his abs, rather than his mind.
03:45 PM on 04/19/2009
a regular 30 minute workout everyday will bring you abs...unless of course you're more apt to use the Limbaugh method....where all you do is eat shi$$ and pop mommy's little helpers.

And if he wasn't using his mind do you really think his career would have begun in high school and propelled him to break his back graduating early from college...whereupon he continued to pursue his aspirations

I'm a dem, but even I can appreciate the work, struggle and dedication it took to get him to where he is. He was on a comedy show....Colbert is amazing, but guests aren't there to take hardball questions.

I don't know what your body looks like, but from how it sounds you must have an amazing physique.

Not very impressive: like most conservatives, he's quick to spat out the consititution (with little confidence, as it were, unfamiliar to him) as a defence for guns, but dismisses the right to privacy when denouncing a woman's right to choose.

Rather spending all that time running for office, why don't you spend some time educating yourself, rather than been a mouthpiece for a party's inconsistent message.

Utterly unimpressived with this dude. I hope someone more intelligent picks off his seat in 2010.

I think you were looking for the "Meet the Press" forum.
06:28 PM on 04/16/2009
Not exactly looking for that forum, just a coherent articulation of a position, not a senseless regurgitation of a party platform. This can be done even on Comedy Central.

Soooo Funnnny....

Maybe he'll come to his senses like that red-headed GOP hotshot from Florida who decided to get out while the getting is good.
