Unsurprisingly, Jon Stewart explored the tax day tea protests last night. He not only took on Fox News for sponsoring these events, but the people themselves for protesting wasteful spending by buying a million tea bags and wasting them. Stewart also looked at the amazing coincidence in timing that these people decided to go anti-government around two and a half months ago.

I came across a great Daily show-ish video from the New York City Tea tax protest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylVWhbklqbM

The GOP are loopy. Only those making more than $250,000 a year will have a 3% tax increase and the lot of them are acting like it is the end of the world. They should look back during Eisenhower's Presidency to see what the top marginal tax rate was.....it was 91%......when Bill Clinton took office it was 31%......Clinton raised it to 39.6% and left office with a 123 billion dollar surplus that Dubya squandered very quickly.....and he lowered the top marginal tax rate down to 35%. These guys have no clue how to govern and always want someone else to pick up the tab for all their spending.

I'm glad Fox News is also popular abroad. This week the whole world got to see Americans exercising the First Amendment right to free speech, the American way! Tens of thousands peacefully protesting with respect and decency. No bricks thrown through store windows, no fist fights, no cops in riot gear hosing down unruly crowds. Quite a contrast to the G20 protesters.

Pres Obama went to Europe and trashed his own people saying we're arrogant. I'm glad the world got to see real Americans this week...peacefully, respectfully protesting and having fun, too. Actions speak louder than words. Americans are classy!

I just loved all the handmade signs, too. Everyone said what they were thinking and they didn't have to use filthy language to express themselves. My favorite sign was "Nobody paid me to be here." That speaks volumes about the quality and integrity of these demonstrations.

Can you tell me what, exactly, was classy about the signs making reference to baking Jews in ovens or Hitler jokes? What's classy about racist propaganda?

Because those signs really showed the quality and integrity of the demonstrations to me. Though I also really enjoyed the unfamiliarity with what "no taxation without representation" meant, too. But then again, these are all just words and we all know that words have no power.

Not only did they waste the tea bags that they bought themselves (unlike the real tea party), they worked for Fox News and Freedomwatch for free. Gullible.

They don't like the taste much do they?

But losers they remain.

these teabaggers crack me up, they are so laughably clueless. the irony of what they are doing is so obvious, just not to them. marching around, indignant that people making over a quater of a million dollars a year will have their tax cuts expire, next year...oooooooh....the horror of it all!!!!

dance, little monkeys, dance!!!
thanks to all the teabaggers for giving us a good chuckle...

I have two observations on the TeaBaggers.

1) Overheard in a restaurant: While not all Republicans may be racists, 90% of racists are Republicans.

2) This TeaBagger "movement" reminds me of CIA covert ops in Latin America. See:

Jon shows (yet again) why he was first guy in news to reclaim any credibility. We now have Colbert, Olbermann and Maddow, but Jon was first. When CPM (corporate propaganda media) fired Dan Rather, I was sure that Jon would get the offer to replace him. Of course Jon couldn't take it: It would have completely destroyed his hard earned credibility.

Ok I am a Democrat but I have to say this: All teabaggers may be Republicans but not all Republicans are teabaggers. We have to differentiate between regular Republicans and Crazy Republicans. As we saw in these demonstrations only a small fraction of the Republican party came out to protest, and I bet decent conservatives were at home in shame. Accusing all Republicans of being ignorant and crazy make us no good, cause we never know when those few decent Republicans will jump the fence to our side.

"Decent" republicans would speak out against traitorous comments of Governor Perry of Texas - or the other thinly veiled racist comments coming from Rush Limbaugh. I'm waiting to hear - and until I do - I'll lump them all in the same tea bag.

This is true,,, not all Republican's are teabaggers ,,but with everything the Republican party has stood for especially during the Bush years I would think any decent Republican would have deserted the party long ago and saved their values and morals . So why haven't you ?

I thought there were decent Republicans. Even knew a few.

But when they unanimously voted to support Bush in his ongoing stupidities.

Or voted unanimously in the House to oppose the stimulus etc, or jump to apologize to that bloated radio mind corpse Limbaugh, I can only conclude that the entire party remains clueless.

Which is really too bad. Because on some level an intelligent opposition has a lot to offer.

Too bad we don't have one.

Jon Stewart used to be funny but its seems he has lost his edge (or writers). Because I do not care who is in the WH (Bush, Obama , whomever), to me, they are fair game for harsh ridicule and satire but that has not really happened yet.

And don't give me the "They (the Obama admin) are above reproach" BS, either. They have effed up immensely since the took control but are given a free pass.

Stewart has been very critical of Obama on several things, I am guessing that you don't watch the show. Hummor is subjective i'm afraid, you not liking him does not alter his appeal to those who get his hummor.

Really? You get his "hummor" as you state? The first time I thought it was a typo, the second time is intentional. All this talk of "hummor"s and tea-bagging, what's the world coming to....

(Oh, coming to... even I am caught up in this)

I'm sure Jon will get back to the President, but for now, there's just too much good material coming from FOX, CNN, CNBC, and Right-wing radio. Sorry!

Lets see Obama took control less than 3 months ago .So tell me what were you expecting Obama to do ,,wave a magic wand and make all the damage of the last 8 years under Bush disappear overnight ?If I were president and I had Bush's mess to clean up ,,hell I wouldn't know where to begin .All you arm chair economists make me laugh ! If you think you cvould do a better job then by all means run for president or better yet call Obama and give him advice ,,after all he only has a Harvard Law degree ,What do you have ?

Catch Colbert.

See that is how liberals differ from republicans (I wouldn't call them conservatives, because they aren't)

Whern our guy screws up we call him on it.
