Cramer Solin

Dan Solin, regular HuffPost blogger and author of The Smartest 401k Book You'll Ever Read, appeared on CNBC's "Power Lunch" Friday and challenged the network for its "In Cramer We Trust" slogan.

When asked by CNBC's Brian Schactman about the best ways to save for retirement, Solin said , "One of the things that you could do instead is to give us more 'In Bogle we Trust' and much less 'In Cramer we Trust."

Cramer himself then stormed onto the show's set to defend himself and trash index funds, which Solin was advocating.

"In all due respect, the S&P is flat literally for ten years," Cramer said. "That's Jon Bogle's world. If you were to sell at 11,000 like I told you in September, 10,000 like I told you in December, and then get back in at 6,500, who wins? Is that so bad? Is that worth not trusting in?"

Cramer then got especially heated.

"I've had it with the people who tell me about the index fund," he screamed. "For ten years they've done nothing! For ten years! When do they get called on the carpet? When are they ever wrong? Do we have to wait another ten years? Enough of this! I've said my piece. Happy 20th!"

CNBC celebrated its 20th anniversary Friday by opening and closing the New York Stock Exchange.

There seems to be an audience out there for ill tempered, unpleasant, obnoxious "talent".
Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and Cramer are a symptom of audience derangement syndrome.

If they remake any Pink Panther movies, Cramer can play the part of Chief Inspector Dreyfus, Inspector Clouseau's boss.

Cramer is one of those folks who really seems to want to win more of the rope in his tug-of-war with the world.

I say let him have the rope. He'll soon enough hang himself with it.

He already does. Think of the millions and millions of dollars lost by all those who followed his advice in the books and magazine articles he wrote and on TV and radio.

CNBC needs to clean house yesterday, or just go off the air. We all know what Cramer is, no need to repeat it, but it rhymes with vidiot. 401 K is and always has been a crock. Handing over all your money to some flim flam finance "industry" is not a good idea.

Wow Cramer, this is business. Enough with the emotion already. Nobody is feeling particularly secure right now. We are really less likely to turn our money decisions over to 'crazed passion'.

Chill. People are going to start spoofing you with crazy hair, bursting into apartments unannounced.

NBC should make a change now or when Cramer's contract is up for renewal. What I don't understand is the number of people who still watch his show. I truly hope they don't follow his financial advice.

Actually, when he told people to hold on to Bear Stearns right before it blew up he should have been shown the door. A Horrible, Career Ending Call...

Jim Cramer is wrong. The S&P curve is not flat. It has a sawtooth curve during the Bush years. One would need a good sense of timing to move in and out of the market to make gains. This is what good mutual fund managers do. They don't keep the money in stocks all the time. Cramer knows this but considering his damaged reputation, he is clearly defensive, caustic, arrogant, belligerent and irritable. Time for Cramer to retire or find another line of work.

On a side note, the S&P curve during the Bush years shows his policies failed to grow the market like in the previous administrations.

Cramer wil change his name to EL COO COO this guy needs treatment real bad.

about 60 days ago he told his viewers to buy gold big time and i told my wife it will go down. Cramer was pushing it big time and i am sure he believed it.

He is entertainment for some people and of course he is not always wrong but i would not bet on his picks because they are often wrong

Cramer says that the S&P is flat but then he talks about the DJIA - talk about scattered! Of course he told everyone to get out after most of the loss - so he saved you a little AFTER he lost you a LOT. Stocks or index funds, they ALL went down, some more than others. It's been proven (check Barron's and others - do a Google search) that Cramer IS worse than index funds. And he quotes the value of an index (i.e. DJIA, out at 10,000, in at 6,500) that you could have been in and out of as a fund, but he doesn't quote any of his stock picks for the the same time frame. Oops... he forgot that he told everyone Conocophilips was a steal below $60/share and it's now $40/share. So... he saved you by telling you to get out at 10,000 then at the low he said to buy something so you could loose an additional %30.
