What's Your Reaction?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been on a sartorial roll in the last few weeks. She brought back her cheerful pantsuits in Europe at the G-20 and NATO summits, and now she's introducing a new signature suit style: piping!

Secretary Clinton first wore a navy suit with gold piping when she met with Chile's Foreign Relations Minister Mariano Fernandez Amunategui, European Union Secretary General Javier Solana, and Haitian Prime Minister Michele Duvivier Pierre-Louis on Wednesday in Washington. Then on Thursday, as the Secretary of State held a press conference with Haiti's President Rene Preval in Port-au-Prince, she showcased another navy suit...only this one was lined with white. See below.

Really. It's one thing to harp on about Michelle Obama's wardrobe. She's the First Lady, a largely ceremonial position and quite stylish. But to reduce the Sec. of State to her wardrobe...come on Huff Po...do we need to bust out the calendar and see that it's 2009 or just call in Gloria Steinem?

Why is it that some posters don't understand the concept of discussion topic sections?

In the Politics section, politics is discussed. In the World section, international issues are discussed. In the Style section, style is discussed.

If HRC is going to be discussed in the Style section, it will be her style that is discussed.

PoliticalAmazon , you realize of course that this article appears in the politics section as well. Fastion is all that is being reported about Hillary. So, polical comments seem justified here along with the fashion comments.

Hillary's version of SoS is a largely ceremonial position of high profile tourism, lots of meet and greet. Think of it as a reprise of her role as first lady, so the coverage of fashion is in keeping with the role. Not much else to report. The substance of foreign policy is addressed by Biden, Jones, Gates, Power and Susan Rice.

Can you spell "defensive"?

Sufferin' Jesus, what a person wears does not define who she is.

In my previous posts in the folder, I said it was too Captain Kangaroo. Here's Captain Kangaroo:

But it could be worse...she could have gone for the Mr. GreenJeans look:

I wonder how many times Obama wore the same suit.

You can count the ties on one hand remember Obama said he is cheap. That Red stripe he has wore at least 20 times. Remember the Election Day speech same tie. DNC convention same tie.

I've always loved piping and glad she's discovered this sharp look. Love both the navy and black suits. Hillary is absolutely glowing these days! She's in her element for sure. Happy for her.

I don't know why people make a big deal about her wearing pantsuits, not everyone likes skirts and dresses, I for one hate dresses and skirts, so it depends on what you feel comfortable wearing.

She always dresses appropriately for the occasion, and the ensemble is usually flattering to her.

I loved her ewaring the yellow-gold pantsuit to the cabinent meeting. She wanted to make her mark, and wearing a bright, sunny ensemble in spring is a heckofalot better way to make your point "i'm here" than lifting your leg to mark your territory.

During the campaign, as some candidates do, she gained weight so some of her pantsuits (especially a very unfortunate lime-green number that haunts me to this day) looked a little tacky but just because they no longer fit correctly.

But HRC has lost weight since the election, and I bet she's getting to wear a lot of outfits he hasn't been able to wear for a long time.

She wanted to make her mark at the first Cabinet meeting by wearing something colorful? Are you sure? It really doesn't sound like someone serious about substance.

Hils is looking pretty darn spiffy there, a little bit a flare...I like it. Who knew a dose of Obama could set you right? By the way my heart is totally glad to see SoS Clinto next to President Preval of Haiti, my native country. I pray change really comes to this hemisphere, it's long overdue.

Nice outfit. However, Hillary has looked extra tired and seems to have aged quite a bit in the last few months. Maybe a bit stressed over the direction of her party?

Have you mistaken her for a Republican? Welcome back, Rip Van Winkle.

I don't know if she looks tired, or if it is because she has lost weight. When older women lose weight, the face skin doesn't snap back like it does when you loose weight as a young woman.

I agree with socialmistfit on this one. Hillary looks tired and older than she does in the campaign. Also she has packed on alot of weight. I guess I am old fashioned in the sense that I believe that when you are at war politics stops at the waters edge. I have a hard time watching Mr. Obama diss our country as he has done. I could cite several examples of this but we all know what they are. I noticed where Brazille tried to impute Obamas apologies to Hillary, but Brazille is the kind of person who never let a little thing like the truth stand in the way of a good story. I hope Hillary can sidestep the mistakes of her boss and serve the country. After Bush we do need a new beginning but my present concern is that the cure may turn out to be worse than the disease. Just give it six months on the dometic side and twelve months on the international side, and you may find I am right. Then perhaps people will come to their senses on alot of things. No Shangri-la.

I think President Obama deserves great credit for rising above the acrimony of the campaign by patching up things with Hillary, and placing her in this important position.

For her part I also think Hillary deserves credit for being able to rise above her bitter disappointment and becoming the happy team player that she is.

Hillary clearly is in her element, seems to be widely liked and respected in the global community, and is putting her heart and mind into the job for the President, and most of all, for the country. GO HILL!!!

We never know the real story do we. But if you believe this was the largesse of Obama, you must also believe in the tooth fairy, Wake up.

As a once rabid and very vocal anti-Hillary Clinton person on HP, more so because of her anti-Obama mocking rhetoric and her divisive behavior on the campaign trail, I admit I am beginning to warm up to Hillary. I cannot easily forget the things she did and said during the campaign and after Obama became the Dem nominee. But I am definitely warming up towards forgiving her.

That said, I am happy to see Hillary doing so well as our SoS...not that I ever doubted her intellect, qualifications, education and capabilities. It was always her personality that I had major problems with. But she has performed as an outstanding SoS and seems to get along very well with President Obama on a personal level. I was touched by the photo of Hillary and President Obama sitting together off to themselves on the WH playground bench with the Obama girls in the background. I am sure it was a melding of the minds and Hillary actually seems happy working for Obama. I do hope their relationship continues to flourish and they will become even closer over time. Then, perhaps some of their positive vibes can rub off on Bill Clinton as he's still bitter about Hillary's loss to Obama.

I'm glad to see her doing well, too.

However, Hillary is not one to give up on a goal just because she lost a contest over it.

I'm really surprised that Bill hasn't picked up Hillary and used her as a battering ram to break in to the Oval Office. I hope it lasts, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't.

Hillary looks super happy and she is doing a terrific job as a team player so far. She should thank Obama everyday for giving her so much power and prestige and the change to bask in his light. Remember how she was ridiculed during the campaign trying to manufacture international experience ( Bosnia, Ireland)? Now, in just 3 months she has filled many pages of a super resume with real experience all over the world. She should be forever thankful to Mr. Obama. If she was back in the Senate wit the tail between her legs she would look miserable.

Oh yeah would you like to talk about the Pastor flap or the "people who cling to thier guns" comments? Politics can get ugly on both sides. Try to remember that when you are looking skyward to see Obamas halo. People who put Obama that high on a pedistel will be the first to knock him off.

I didn't think I could every move pass my negative views of Hillary after the primaries but I have. She's doing a great job, looking great and appears to happy as Secretary of State. Funny how famous people can so easily redeem themselves. Expect to see John Edwards at some point rise again.

That said, brilliant job as SOS so far.

Even though I've teased about her gonig for the Captain Kangaroo look, as long as she doesn't wear ballerina suits and short scrunchy little sweaters, I will be THRILLED.

All I know is Hillary is dead wrong about Haiti. Haiti's poor do not need sweatshop slave labor factories that leave no money for Haiti but take it all back to the US. They need help with agriculture so they can be self-sustaining and stop forced dependence. US rice needs to be highly tariffed and no more "free clothing" so that Haitian rice farmers and Haitian tailors can make a living in their own country. The goal should be to help Haiti be independent of hand outs. To this end, Americans (including husband Bill Clinton who owns a cellphone business in Haiti) should not make their fortune in Haiti. The wealthy in Haiti should be heavily taxed, they are not paying ANYTHING to be filthy rich at this time.

Summery: Factories, NO Self sustaining projects, YES
