You have to be smart to be a crook.
The true life of the man who changed Wall Street.
Redefining the American Dream, for the better of the people.
Americans won't really learn, we are doomed to repeat some of the mistakes of the past.
I think Bernie should also write a book. He would make so much more money in royalties.
You are definitely a living legend and I hope we can all bask in your all knowing knowledge.
I really wanted to give you the secretary of treasury seat.

It is absolutely imperative, to some criminals and high-criminals, that "there must be a scapegoat." Bernie Madoff is supposed to be that scapegoat. Executives who get "excessive compensation" are also supposed to be the scapegoat. Tea bags are yet another purely-diversionary outlet for the public outrage.

The criminals and high-criminals of which I speak simply want to continue having this "economic downturn" seen as "a series of unfortunate events" ... or, failing that, the singular consequences of one man whom we can film meekly pleading guilty as he is carted off to jail.

They don't want anyone to seriously consider that what we are actually dealing with is probably the largest and longest-lasting system of financial high-crime ever before witnessed: a swindle comprising literally trillions of (leprechaun...) dollars, with the complicity of both the SEC and the United States Congress, lasting for more than a dozen years. Any "crime words," like "securities fraud," "swindle," "cheat," "steal," or "usury," simply are not welcome in their version of conversation or journalism.

We don't need to bother with Bernie Madoff movies. We need Sen. Phil Gramm movies. No... we need no movies at all. We need law enforcement. "High Crime is real crime," and it literally can have 300 million victims. We need to start treating it as: "crime... period."
