Famous People Planting Trees (SLIDESHOW)

Possibly the most popular form of activism on Earth Day -- or around Earth Day -- is the planting of trees. It's a great way to get in touch with nature and fight back against polluters.

Plus, it looks nice. And that's why we get plenty of photo-ops with celebrities planting trees. [See Bill Clinton and the Obamas planting trees for Earth Day 2009] Here are a few from the last couple of years (and one from the '90s -- you'll know which).

Some people give to food pantries, some rescue abandoned cats & dogs........
I rescue "ditch trees". Those which sprout on the shoulder of the road or in the drainage ditch alongside.
Then in July the State mower comes along and trims them down. I dug up one 15" slender sapling to discover it's base trunk was much broader than the top part. It had been trying to survive in the ditch for many years......It is now a lovely 15' high spruce tree sheltering my house from the north west winds!
15 years ago........15' high = growth of 1' per year! I am eying the oak sapling across the street from my house.....­.........g­rowing up under the power/cable lines. It is surely destined to be cut down by the power company in the future.....so I think it has to come across & live in my yard.

Funny there are no pictures of the underpaid labor who actually dug the holes. Completely absurd little photo montage. No doubt half of these trees have died, planted by such inept and vapid modern-day celebrities.

They all look kind of ridiculous in their fancy clothes and suits planting trees. They ought to dress in activity appropriate clothing, or it tends to look kind of phony.
