Politico:

Republicans look across the health reform battlefield and see the Democrats organized, energized and flush with cash -- with several groups lined up to promote the president's plan, and a message honed by years of preparation.

Then they look into their own camp -- and get nervous.

THE QUESTION IS, DO THEY HAVE A PLAN FOR ANYTHING. NO. THAT'S THE PLAN NO. JUST SAY NO. THAT'S THE GOP PLAN.

It sounds like we'll have a repeat of the GOP's "budget" when they present their "healthcare reformf".

I guess their plan;
- Tax my work benefits (great plan, not the best coverage and still expensive to actually use),
- Give tax breaks, eliminate medicare (was on and loved the care i received),
- Let insurance companies and drug companies provide 'options' which by in large will be the equivalent of predatory plans that are affordable but cover nothing and cost more to use. Just like medicare part D, which I also had and also sucks.
- So tax cuts give you health care.
That's no plan its a give away to health care companies to provide crappy but cheap coverage, mostly a lack of coverage.

"my coverage is great thank you don't touch it"

Call us when you get older and/or develope a chronic illness that your great coverage says is a "preexisting condition" and won't cover you and no other insurance will either.

One thing I am afraid of is that if the Republicans have finger in the pie, it will water down a strong health care bill. They will want the private health care Insurance companies to still have a say or control at the expense of the people. Obama is not proposing nationalizing health care, but he should. If the insurance companies and drug companies have to great an influence it will not be a good bill. I don't see the republicans decrying Social Security and I bet those republicans eligiable are not refusing to use it.

The GOP have taken so much money from the pharmacutical and insurance industries they will never have a plan. They don't want a plan as long as they can line their pockets on the back of the people in this country's healthcare or lack thereof. They all have great healthcare coverage, so why would they give a rats butt about any of us?

If you could check most of the GOP's investments, you would find they are highly invested. Of course they don't want to cut out health insurance companies, etc. That would mean huge personal losses to them.

Without health, there is no life. It's a continuum.

If there is a right to life, there is a right to health.

How can they help but stumble. They support the for-profit health care industry. They don't want to see all those profits off of our misfortune go away.

but they only "profit" because of massive, huge, federal subsidies. They cant provide actual health care on their own, and make a profit. if we went to all private it would not only be unaffordable for all but the richest, they would not pay for health care. it would be more like "health accident" insurance, and they would try to avoid paying even those claims, as they do now.The time has come to do away with private "health insurance" companies, and replace them with universal health care for all Americans.Health insirance is an old racket that has far outlived its relevance and any usefulness it may have once had, long ago.

HMOs were started in the 80's under the Republicans. That was the beginning of the end of good health care.

As other have stated, the Republicans don't want health care for the masses....just themselves. I have a neighbor who has been disabled all her life and on Medicaid. She doesn't want government sponsored health care because she doesn't want the government in charge of her health...go figure. I asked her who paid for her medical care....Medicaid.....Who runs Medicaid....the government....she walked away dumbfounded. Just as I expected she'd do.

The reason they don't have a plan is that they don't WANT a plan. They want to get hold of people's money and use it to finance someone else's adventure (apologies to Jon Stewart). That's all. They want to leave you with nothing. As Bill Kristol once said, "we cannot let them get health care or it will be the end of the Republican party." So THAT's why they oppose it. I think some of them think it's a pretty good idea but party leadership holds them back and makes them vote no. This should be interesting.

Anyone expecting the republicans to come up with any new ideas is opening themselves up to a big disappointment. There are no  new ideas left in the Party of the Past. Their Health care alternative will be as empty as their "budget" and just as timely.

They don't have any plans because they never thought that they wouldn't need any plans. The would have just sat back and hoped that everything would fix itself. Tha't why McCain fell apart when the market crashed. Many of the GOP took hits to their finance as well and the rest of America. They don't have a clue as to the (how's) to fix this mess. They keep fighting Obama and complaining but they don't have a clue as to what can be done to turn this economy around. Health care, jobs have not been a concern of theirs for 30 years. Between the Republicans and the Fox News Network you get a clear understanding of how the GOP is thinking. They didn't cry when Bush was creating this mess, nor did they care. Now they are worried about our children having to pay for this debt. If we don't try and correct this budget now there wont be a country for their Children to worry about. China, Russia, Japan will all own this country and we will be speaking another language all together.
