Palin v. Sebelius? "Team Sarah" Organizes Against Obama Pick

An online community of female supporters of Gov. Sarah Palin is launching a last minute campaign to derail the candidacy of Kathleen Sebelius for the secretary post at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Team Sarah, which was founded to support and mobilize for the McCain-Palin ticket and claims tens-of-thousands of members, blasted out a petition on Monday morning urging members to "flood the phone lines" in opposition to Sebelius' candidacy.

Sebelius's nomination is set to come to a vote before the Senate Finance Committee this Tuesday, April 21. The nomination is expected to pass through the committee and ultimately the Senate, though on Friday the terrain got a bit rougher, when ranking Republican Sen. Charles Grassley criticized the Kansas Governor for understating the amount of money she raised from doctor who performs abortions -- likely the same revelation offending the Team Sarah members.

Progressive groups have been pushing for an expeditious confirmation of Sebelius for weeks, arguing that the administration is being disadvantaged by lacking a cabinet figure to tackle a subject of such key political and economy importance (health care).

Earlier this month, a Republican Senator put a mysterious hold on the confirmation of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as Health and Human Services Secretary. It's hard to believe that while the clock ticks on fixing health care, the top leadership position in the government's health agency is left vacant. This is simply unacceptable.

Wonder how Sarah is going to handle two upsets in a month, with her nominee for Alaskan Attorney General going down in flames and Kathleen Sebelius likely to be appointed for the secretary post at HHS.

Actually there are three other failures for Palin this month:

1) Her recommendation for Senate seat was rejected by state legislature

2)State legislature rejected Palin's capital budget

2) State legislature rejected Palin's stimulas budget...

I live in Kansas. Kathleen Sebelius is an excellent Governor. Unlike palin, she is competent, articulate and smooth. She will be an excellent Secretary Of H & H. Slinking to new lows to distorte a candidate's positions is typical of the Palin mentality. Best of luck on your new job in DC Governor Sebelius.

Notice how nowhere in this article is mentioned abortion or choice? Why? That's what this is all about, to leave that out is to leave out 99% of the entire story.

Now then, I remember reading the ADN during the height of the campaign, researching many months prior as well, looking for any dirt to use on blogs to shut up the GOP backers. Well, I ran across the article in the Anchorage Daily News about the birth of her child and prior to that about her pregnancy in at least one other news story. I was reading things like "heathy baby boy" and "mother and baby are doing fine and there was no complications or health problems", stuff to that effect.

Well, I was taking everything at face value, I wasn't seeing into what was not said. What was not said? Nowhere have I been able to find, has it ever been reported that her baby had down syndrome. Why would the newspaper run an article on the birth of the child and go out of their way to say it was a healthy baby and no health problems or complications?

Face the facts people, YOU are being played. Not only has the baby never had down syndrome, but never will. Funny, same thing was said about my niece's baby. She's got a perfectly health baby boy too. Not one defect, mental or physical and is already ahead of the curve of normal babies on walking and talking.

Respectfully, let me add; Down sydrome isn't always identified at birth though I was sure that it was one of those disorders checked during amniocentesis. Certainly, being over 40, Sarah would have been considered high risk and that would have entailed the amnio.

I agree, but they are identified pre-birth for some reason. As I said, my niece went through this very thing, being told she might as well abort the baby because something was seriously wrong with it and that if nothing too bad was wrong, it was definitely going to have down syndrome. Well, turns out both were lies.

I've seen the child. There are obvious phyiscal traits associated with Down Syndrome present. It would be quite a feat to make such a claim while being eyed by the media at every turn Even for the likes of a media manipulator like Sarah and her clan.

Her speech this weekend was the same snarky, innuendo filled, totally lacking in real substance pap that she always spews. I cannot believe that even 26% would support her.
