Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hit up a suburban grocery store with two of their kids Saturday afternoon, a Stop & Shop employee tells Usmagazine.com.

"They were here for 30 minutes and left," Monira Ahmed, who works in customer service, tells Us of the pair -- who are staying on New York's Long Island while she films thriller Salt.

"They were very friendly," continues Ahmed of the couple, who were joined by Zahara, 4, and Shiloh, 2.

My family & I are middle class. I recently had the extremely unpleasant experience of working on a project requiring I interact with arrogant, self-important wealthy people - mainly wives who have never worked a real job in their lives. I learned their life goals are throwing parties, taking exotic vacations, over-landscaping their estates and generally spending money on themselves in every way, shape and form imaginable. A third world village of kids could be innoculated for what one of them spends on landscapers/lawn care per month. Their children are raised with the same attitudes.

They treat women who work for a living with dismissive rudeness whether she's lawyer, nurse, waitress, sales clerk, meter reader, or some grifter! After a stressful day interacting with these princesses, I stopped to pick up groceries. It occurred to me I've rarely seen these women in the supermarket because their servants shop for them.
So when I saw the headline for this thread, I thought HURRAY! for the Pitts, who are comfortable navigating aisles and teaching their kids the same. The elite are so effective at isolating themselves that we don't even realize they do it. And it's this isolation which makes it so easy for them to get by with grossly overpaying themselves and siphoning the wealth out of our economy. Witness the amazement of many at finding out the obscene compensation levels and life styles of the elite of the financial and corporate worlds as the media finally cover these topics.

i'm truly confused as to why this is considered newsworthy; people step out of their homes all the time, to do all kinds of things. is there supposed to be something surprising or exciting about this? this is really extreme, even for this celebrity obsessed culture.

Well- this may be a non-story but...

1) I used to work at a grocery store here in Chicago and a lot of famous actors and theater people used to shop there. We always knew which ones were the nice ones who treated you like a human, were pleasant to people who recognized them or asked for an autographs ( store employees were not allowed to) and even remembered the checkout people's names and said thank you to the bagger and carried their own groceries out.

We also remembered the ones who acted like ***holes and were rude to everyone and treated employees like dirt. So publicity stunt or not, I am glad that Brad and Angelina were polite and gave autographs. It might not matter to me or a lot of people here, but it was probably a big deal for the people who asked for them.

Also, for those complaining about the 'entourage' - all those people are spending a lot of money in your community. It may bother you to see them standing around outside a school or driving a limo, but B & A are paying for hotel rooms and restaurants and wages and that is a good thing for your hometown. A lot of places would be grateful these days for that influx of cash and attention, so I can't think it is all bad.

I live/work in the Springfield, MO. area, and the posters talking about the hassle of having them and their traveling entourage in the area are right...it's a mess. When they're on the move around town, it's a nightmare. Guess we should be glad Jane Pitt doesn't care much for Angie...keeps the streets clear!
