usatoday.com:

Wal-Mart plans to announce for Earth Day on Wednesday that it will as much as double the size of its solar-power initiative in the next 18 months by putting rooftop solar arrays on 10 to 20 stores and distribution centers in California. The retail giant early this month finished installing solar setups at 18 Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores and two warehouses in California and Hawaii.

"(Wal-Mart) is something of a bellwether," says analyst Nat Bullard of New Energy Finance.

One right does not rectify a thousand wrongs!

The wrongs, I assume, are giving 1.6 million people jobs while you complain about imagined "wrongs" and help no one.

My guess is you are one of the lemmings that rails against the evil Wal-Mart as you sit in your house/apartment typing on your foreign computer with all sorts of foreign products surrounding you. You probably also do nothing to support others through charitable acts or make the world a better place. I see people like you every day and it makes me laugh.

That is great, but I will STILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN

Haven't been in one for five years, and just driving past their parking lot give me the heebie jeebies. Don't miss them one bit.

on 10-20 stores. lol. ever little bit helps, but LMAO. 10-20 stores? that's covers Utah. what about the other 2 million?

That's like a single human touting that they used a low flow toilet once.

They are doing it to save money. It's all about the bottom line not saving the planet.

Every little bit helps, esp. if they install solar on the 24 hour stores.

Next up, is do something about the thermostats. Don't know WalMart's MO, but when I worked at Target (in Houston) for the Christmas season, the thermostats were always on Heat & made it very uncomfortable (esp. on days when the temps were in the 70s). The manager said they couldn't adjust the thermostats, because they were controlled by the home office in Minnesota.

More greenwashing. Nice, but Walmart needs to do at least ten times more to make any difference whatsoever.
