DNC Releases "100 Days Of No" Ad (VIDEO)

The Democratic National Committee released on Thursday a new advertisement called "100 Days Of No," calling out the Republican response to the first hundred days of the Obama presidency. Dubbing the GOP the "party of no," the DNC says that while the president and Congress have been hard at work attempting to solve the economic crisis, the Republicans have "openly employed the same obstructionist, just-say-no approach."

The video pairs clips of Republican leaders discussing why they voted "no" on various bills with a running count of the first hundred days since Obama's inauguration.

"As long as Republicans continue to rely on Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, and Rush Limbaugh for their inspiration, Americans can only expect more of the same recycled Republican talking points and baseless criticisms from the party of no new ideas and no new leadership," said DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse in a press release.

"In the next 100 days and beyond, we strongly encourage the Republicans to set aside their tired partisan games and work with the President to reform our health care system, make America energy independent, and lay the foundation for long-term growth in the 21st Century," Woodhouse said.

The Republicans also voted NO on discontinuing an objectively successful program benefiting almost exclusively underpriveleged minority children. Why did Obama kill The Washington DC opportunity scholarship? On all objective measures it was helping minority children in DC escape there failing schools! PLEAS what id the other side to this arguement? Other than the fact that the NEA kicked in 30 million to the DNC?

Let me get this straight with all the rightwing women in the Republican party, they all voted NO for equal pay for women. They talk about how women are treated so bad in other countries but the rightwingers feel that they are superior to women and other races. I'm just amazed at the ignorance of the women in Republican party.

A total display of "we get together first, and then decide how to vote, based on our best interest", and then hope the economy, country, etc., collapse, and then "we can take over again".

I think this ad is terrific. It tells a big story in a very short amount of time. I don't think people understand how difficult it is to make a dramatic statement in 60 seconds. There is a feeling to it of a dark force moving forward with "NO" time after time, and looking quite backward.

I've seen a fair share of criticisms in the comments, but I think if most people saw this ad where it should be, between the segments of a show or a movie, it would attract their attention. It doesn't shout at you, moves along at a good clip, kaleidoscopes years of tyranny and republican disdain for the middle class in one minute.

Yeah. I'm all over it.

And does anyone remember the DNC being so aggressive with ads for either Gore or Kerry, even in off election years? This is something to cheer.

Please sir, can I have some more?

I find myself asking who is this add intended for. Democrats? They already know that the Republicans have voted no. The Republicans? Well, they'll see the add and tell themselves that No means I love America and pat themselves on the back. If its for the real centrists and swing voters, it doesn't bring enough fact to the table, just sort of "floating" no's. I think if you're really trying to influence the centrists, you'll have to bring some pie charts into it. Sorry.

Would pie charts sell you on Nike shoes? A trendy boutique? A new restaurant? You can tell me all you want that it's different because it's politics, but it's not.

Commercials that work give their viewers a reward. They don't lecture, they don't tell----they show. They don't thump their chest and say enough about me, now what do you think of me? Good commercials make a singular statement powerfully. They don't attempt to squeeze a class into one minute.

I get that you don't like this spot, and that's your right. But bringing in pie charts and a slew of points instead of one singular message would be a huge mistake.
