Don't fall for any "new politics" baloney.
The result of "bipartisanship" on health care reform will be the same as the stimulus. No Republicans in the House will vote for ANY bill that reduces corporation profits or CEO bonuses by one dime.
The Republicans will use their seat at the table to water down legislation and then vote against it anyway.
The Republicans immorally used the budget reconciliation process to give wealthy people a tax cut they didn't need during wartime, bankrupting the treasury. They have no moral ground to stand on. And furthermore, the conservative movement WANTS warfare. They don't want a bill they can live with. They want to brag to their people that they got every Republican to vote against it.
Obama can play the "good cop" if he wants or if it is politically desirable, but none of the rest of us should be fooled by the Republican Party, the conservative movement or their corporate campaign contributors. The insurance industry will call in every chit and favor they have to try and block health care reform that includes a public option. They are already planning a scorched earth tactic against health care reform. A public option means costs reductions. No public option means a mandate for everyone to buy private insurance which will end up being corporate welfare for them with no actual improvement in health care.
Any health care bill that relies on insurance companies is doomed to failure. Greed will not allow the companies to play straight. We need a system like the Canadians have. I lived with that system for 10 years and have nothing bad to say about it. If we had a system like theirs and then joined with them we could have most of North America under one health system.
Wait, Sarah Palin said that the Vice President was in charge of the Senate. Who the heck is this guy?
Too bad this important issue can't stand on its own, instead of having to use procedural gimmicks to get around the G NO P. The most effective way to get health care where it needs to be is to put the Senate last in benefits. They should only be allowed the health care available to the poorest 5% of the population, even if they could pay for it out of pocket. I'm guessing it would take about a week to get things right. ( It's an easy bill. Medicare Parts A, B and D for all. No premiums, deductibles or co-pays.)
It p*sses me off that Rep. want to block universal health care.. Why shouldn't our taxes go towards us. We are paying for their (rep)health care. Let the Party of no pay for their own health care if they think it is a walk in the park. They certainly have enough money. They are too cheap.
Strip Mr. Frumin's children of their health insurance and he will understand the importance of it and make his decision accordingly. It's a freaking slam dunk!!!
To avoid this problem, all the republicans have to do is to use their common sense, look around themselves and accept reality.
