Meghan McCain Slams Cheney, Rove: "You Had Your Eight Years--Go Away" (VIDEO)

Meghan McCain, serving as a co-host of "The View" today, wasted little time before getting in a shot at former Vice President Dick Cheney and Karl Rove. McCain, who had previously written about how she found Karl Rove following her on Twitter "creepy," complained that Cheney and Rove are still trying to be seen as the face of the Republican Party. Last week McCain observed that the GOP leadership is "scared shitless" of the changing political landscape.

McCain mentioned disapprovingly Cheney's repeated public criticisms of Obama--which he voiced again on Fox News this week--and referred to the DNC ad released this week portraying Cheney, Rove and Gingrich as the 'new face of the GOP.' She pointed out that it's "very unprecedented for someone like Karl Rove or Dick Cheney to be criticizing the President." Her advice to them: "Go away."

And on a similar vein, people who aren't on the same page politically or socially can work together: Willie Nelson, and you know what he likes to smoke, has recorded music with Crystal Gayle, someone who has palled around with the Bushies.

The more I hear from her the more I like her... I don't agree with her on many points, but I do like her.

If the republicans embrace her as representing their future, then the Democrats might have something to worry about.

But as long as Repubs follow the old guard like lemmings, Democrats can sleep comfortably at night.

JScott- whatever he calls himself, I think saying Ron Reagan is Independant is a stretch. But for Mehan- maybe she is a way for Republicans to move forward and show that they aren't all crazy religious-right wingnut racists and bigots. I mean, I have friends who are Republicans who didn't like McCain as a candidate, but who couldn't stand Bush, Cheney or the Rovian style politics, even when they were on top. Meghan is appealing to young people her own age- I think she is planning a career in politics and is trying to build a base with young and future voters. I don't support the GOP, but if they are smart they will use her and start talking common sense.

Meghan McCain seems and appears to be honest and realistic, even though most people these days don't agree with her core Republican views. This whole thing with putting her out there may be a huge trick, including the fights with others in her own party. I don’t buy it at all. She tried to defend Steele and how he suddenly became chairman of the GOP, with the only two black hosts on the View… even though he won the chairmanship after Obama’s election..­..hmmm what a coincidence. Meghan McCain may be working with Steele and the GOP. She is tough and scrappy like her Dad and can take and stand up to abuse from others. Also, this is a way for her to make a name for herself. I hope Democrats, Independents and moderate Republicans are not tricked by this attempt to drag people back to the Republican Party. The GOP is in complete chaos and obsolete. Please remember that even though Meghan McCain seems refreshing, she is definitely NOT the one who will be running things and the Republicans are experts at playing games. Keep the main voices of Republican Party: Rush Limbaugh, Rove, Gingrich, Cheney, Hannity, Beck, Coulter, O'Reilly and 8 long Bush administration years in mind and remember she is only one small voice. Meghan McCain cannot and will not change the core principles of the Republican Party.
