Terrence Howard

Terrence Howard is still complaining about being replaced by Don Cheadle in "Iron Man 2."

In a new interview with Parade, Howard said the following ominous statement:

"Marvel made a choice, and it was a very, very bad choice. They didn't keep their word. They didn't honor my contract. They produced a great bounty with the first one but they put it all in the storehouse and you were not allowed in. They did the same thing with Gwyneth Paltrow, from what I've been told. They did it with almost everyone except Robert Downey [Jr.]. One of the things that actors need to learn to do is always stick together, one for all and all for one."

Sorry, but I'm not feeling this. If TH had been replaced by an actor that was other than what the material called for (a Black man), it would be newsworthy, as well as an understandable cause to be PO'd. But the truth is, looking at both actor's body of work, Don Cheadle IS a better performer. I remember seeing Don give an interview to a journalist doing a story on if Hollywood was really making strides with equal opportunity for minorities in film. He said, basically, that the first thing is to make sure you have an artistic, well-conceived and well-performed effort, or it won't matter what color anyone is. Watch the movie Traitor, and tell me the man doesn't give compelling performance.

Terrence Howard being miffed is understandable, but for him to toss out the names of other actors on the project and 'dish the dirt' is pretentious and unprofessional. If Gwenyth Paltrow didn't say anything, why should he? Childish... I look forward to seeing Don Cheadle take this role over. A marvelous talent.

Dear Mr. Howard,

Please get over Iron Man. You have too much talent to waste it on a silly second-tier super hero film anyway.

Regards,
Movie-goer

Maybe they were replaced because they weren't right, wanted too much money, or, perhaps, were difficult. Terrence admits to being extremely arrogant, so maybe it was his attitude.

Also, one for all and all for one? Why? I guarantee you that if he were in the Robert Downey position that he'd not be pulling that stunt. In the future, producers would shy away from hiring him for fear that he'd pull another mutiny on the set.

Get over it, Terrence. If you're so great, go ahead and take another job. You're coming off like Jennifer Anniston.

Don Cheadle in "Iron Man 2". No way. No how.

I've collected Iron Man since the mid-70s. Robert Downey was an excellent choice for the lead. Terence was a very good, albeit not great, choice for his buddy. But Don Cheadle??? Oh, HELL NO.

If I do go see IM2, it will definitely be a bargain matinee.

Iron Man isn't about you, Mr. Howard. It's about the suit.

I don't know why they're using the phrase 'whining"--I'd be bummed out/PO'd/disappointed too if I was in a huge movie like Iron Man and then didn't get invited back for the second one. Think about it for a moment--that would really suck.

When African-Americans are included on this Entertainment Page invariably the subject of the mention concerns some form of anti-social beahvior. I understand that one of the pilars of entertainment journalism is 'DISH'. On the other hand I have noticed that the stories about White Stars are much more varied. They range from damning(Mel Gibsons anti-semitism), enlightening(Seinfeld discovering his genealogical roots), inspiring(Roger Eberts' fight against cancer), courage(Jack Black et al fighting against Prop 8) just to name a few.

I don't dispute the veracity of your reporting. It is about the stories you choose to run. The Black Entertainers and Artists are OFTEN portrayed as criminals, malcontents, homophobes and 'whiners'. My concern is that it appears that the only way Black entertainers may appear on this Entertainment Page is if that story feeds long held stereotypes about African-Americans in general.

Well said. I come here less frequently because I'm tired of the obvious bias.

I'm soooo tired of the racism card. He's been talking about this for months. Maybe if he'd replaced the job rather than whining about, they'd be writing about that!

Maybe it's karma. Howard is not and honorable man. He's just getting what's coming to him. He's gonna lose alot more jobs if he doesn't stop running his mouth

One thing you should learn to do is not make light of criminal situations. What a tool.

All of this whining a moaning is turning off your fan base. Just be happy that you get good acting gigs,
and that the fans support you. Whining like a big beyotch is a total turnoff. If you want something to whine about let me tell you about all of your fans who are homeless, jobless, living in tents, have no medical care.

Big deal. He was great in 'Awake' with Hayden Christensen, and then he tried to be cocky in Ironman, and it didn't fly. That's the way it goes Terence.

guys, this isn't just about iron man 2. someone previously mentioned samuel l jackson's 9 picture deal. robert downey jr and ed norton have also signed multi-picture deals with marvel. after im2, we get thor (thank god they god rid of the guy they origianally signed to play thor, he gave me the creeps. josh hartnet playing loki has me interested). then captian america. some time in between will be the next hulk movie. if they recast spider-man, i have a feeling it will be for a specific reason (probably undr a name like The Amazing Spider-Man). namely, marvel is building-up to the avengers. they are signing people who are A) willing to multi-picture deals B) are used to working with cg, green-screens, and wire-work C) finally, and most important, they are easy to work with! if you knew you had to spend the next 5 years working with someone, would you want to work with don cheadle, or a woman-beater?
