Shane Murphy, Freed Pirate Hostage, Slams "Disgusting" Rush Limbaugh

Shane Murphy, second-in-command aboard the ship seized by Somali pirates this month, is happy to be home. But he's not happy to be sharing turf with land-lubber Rush Limbaugh, who politicized the pirate affair by referring to the pirates as "black teenagers."

"It feels great to be home," said Murphy in an interview with WCBV in Boston. "It feels like everyone around here has my back, with the exception of Rush Limbaugh, who is trying to make this into a race issue...that's disgusting."

Limbaugh made the remark to suggest why President obama might have appeared preoccupied at church on the day of the operation to rescue the ship's captain, who was taken hostage by the pirates until Navy SEAL snipers shot them in a daring rescue effort.

"He was worried about the order he had given to wipe out three teenagers on the high seas," Limbaugh said. "Black Muslim teenagers."

"You gotta get with us or against us here, Rush," Murphy said. "The president did the right thing...It's a war.... It's about good versus evil. And what you said is evil. It's hate speech. I won't tolerate it."

Rush just slammed the Naval Acadamy speech given their commander in cheif. "5 days in April .. I can just see the movie.. " saying that they "killed black teenagers" ..

So it's ok for Rush to accuse the Navy of murder when following the orders of Pres. Obama to rescue our citizens from pirates, but it's not ok for the american people to question the Bush admin to authorize/ look the other way on torture?

Kudos to this man, who experienced this action first-hand, for calling it like it is and saying so to Rush Limbaugh. I would hope this shamed him, but that man has no shame. I've only heard two people assess all this hatred coming from the Limbaugh-led Right as something sinister, hidden and ugly and everything to do with race: Those people are Bill Maher in his LA Time Op-Ed and now, Shane Murphy.

That's an excuse to be a hypocrite. RL rarely speaks of illegal drug use, before or after he was the victim of that with hunt. He is probably similar, although not as enlightened as Neil Boortz, who has argued for legalization of drugs.

The issue wasn't Rush's drug use.

It is the fact that he had condemned drug use, and repeatedly said that drug laws should be tougher. You say he "didnt' speak of it often" but the fact of the matter is he HAS spoken of it, and spoken very strongly against drug use and in favor of harsher penalties for drug use.

I'm not saying that liberals are never hypocrites when it comes to drug laws. They were far more critical of drug laws under Bush than under Clinton even though Clinton gave the DEA more power and drug arrests went way up under him.

But in this case, Rush, they weren't being hypocrites, they were calling HIM out for being a hypocrite.

It's like when conservatives point out that Al Gore flies on a private plane and does many things in his personal life which aren't environmentally friendly. The conservatives aren't hypocrites for pointing out someone isn't being environmentally concious when they are not environmentally concious themselves, they are simply pointing out Al Gore's hypocracy of not doing what he tells others to do.

My Mom was a 94- year old, church going Democratic liberal who believed in America, social justice and human rights. We never had a drug stronger than aspirin in our house. I defy you to cite evidence which shows that "liberals have done every drug known to man."

I work in a prison with lily white, conservative mothers - all of whom are have been convicted of drug crimes. Most of them did more and more and more drugs in a misguided attempt to be perfect religious mothers.
