PRAGUE — Czech authorities have released former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke from detention and ordered him to leave the country.

Police spokeswoman Katerina Rendlova says Duke must leave the Czech Republic by midnight Saturday after he was detained on suspicion of denying the Holocaust.

Duke was in Prague on an invitation from a neo-Nazi group to promote the Czech translation of his book "My Awakening." Police took him into custody Friday on suspicion of denying the Holocaust, which is a crime in the Czech Republic.

Prague's Charles University also banned Duke from giving a lecture there Friday. He was scheduled to give lectures over the weekend in both Prague and the country's second-largest city of Brno.

America's right wing conservatives need his type to rev up their base and keep them loyal to the republican party.

Humans who are kindred to this kind on human being only reside in the USA. He'll be welcomed back by the right wing with the flair of a war hero! Duke is representative of the republican leadership and their base base. This is their big secret! They don't care about anything except the republican agenda!

"In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on "hate speech".

The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The ICCPR recognizes the right to freedom of speech as "the right to hold opinions without interference.

Human rights refer to the "basic rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled."[1] Examples of rights and freedoms which have come to be commonly thought of as human rights include civil and political rights, such as the right to life and liberty, freedom of expression, and equality before the law; and social, cultural and economic rights, including the right to participate in culture, the right to food, the right to work, and the right to education.

“ All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."

That's all I was saying. In the beginning, it was meant to give all humans the right to speak freely and humanely with each other and the government. I believe we have taken this right to the far extreme and have used it to hurt, abuse, and disrespect those we don't like.

What I get from these words is "THE RIGHT TO HOLD OPINIONS WITHOUT INTERFERENCE." That means you should be able to speak without anyone cutting you off. Through the years and amendments, it included hate speech (14th amendment). But originally, it did not.

Which section of the 14th Amendment provides the right to "hate Speech"?

I thought he was dead, either I wasn't paying attention or the press, hopefully, finally woke up and stopped giving him the attention he has never deserved.

The old saying "When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do" which means when in someone else's country you obey their laws.

Some people when they travel think that because they are Americans, only American law counts. Got news for em, Dont go to another country spewing hate and lies and expect to be ignored you will get the surprise of your life.

I'm NOT a David Duke fan, but the moment any of us are jailed for QUESTIONING anything, is a catastrophe for freedom of speech, much less freedom of THOUGHT! And I have ancestors that died on the Trail of Tears.

I am not so sure that even in America there is such absolute protection of free speech.

It is not denying - it is lying. Freedom to lie.
He is in country with living survivors of the Nazi times = the whole country, The Nazis share his KKK ideals, and KKK objectives. And he is LYING. He is LYING. Not in denial - He knows he is LYING. He is a lying politician.
That said - he has that right in the USA. And I support you.
But let's not kid ourselve about who he is and what he wants. Or that he is lying.
He is a politician playing to the US audience - and this is a successfl stunt to grab headlines. He will return to the USA and be the King of any Tennessee BBQ, and Oh will he ever have fun there! Love that micropone don't you David! Oh yes he does.
He is a lying politcian. And we have the right as Americans to not vote for him. Which is one of the things he is after. And we have the right to call him a Liar.
The headlines do not read David Duke thrown out of the Czech Republic for Lying about Czech history. That is what actually happened.

I wish they had prosecuted him rather than send him back. All the sending back will do is make a bunch of his followers point to how he must be right because the Czech Republic was scared to prosecute him.

This does point out to people traveling overseas - check the laws where you are traveling. While you are in their country you are bound by their laws.

All that really shows is he is not a Czech citizen so they cannot prosecute him.

Don't be an a*s. When in another country one normally needs to abide by its laws (except US contractors in Iraq). I assume that the Czechs are not anal about infractions like this. A Czech citizen might spend a couple of days in the hoosegow, and then more if he/she persist in his/her stupidity. Also, he/she may just get fined. I don't know.

Duke was easy. They just threw his sorry a*s out of the country.

An excellent lesson in the right of free speach for Mr. Duke. Wonder what happened to his Czech sponsors?

While I would not want to live in a country where denying the holocaust is actually illegal, it is a lot of fun to see David Duke being thrown out of such a country.

I know most of you will disagree with me on this, but I think "freedom of speech" was not meant to be this aggressive as we permit it in this country. There SHOULD be limits on what we can say that can rile up people to do damage, cause harm, or spew hatred of any kind. I don't believe hate is our mantra. But we've been so blinded by it, we accept it and espouse it whenever we like. I believe all of us are better than the people we behave like.

I don't know about this... Thomas Paine's "Common Sense," and writings from other "founder fathers" suggest otherwise. The first amendment is also pretty clear (unlike the 2nd amendment).

Common sense seems to be lacking in this country nowadays. I don't think very many people are using it the way it was meant to be used. Common sense is not hateful. I believe it depends on the democratic setup of the country what freedom of speech means. Because in the Commonwealth of Australia, hate speech is forbidden in for many reasons. I wish we have the common sense to do the same here in America.

Who decides what is not allowed to be said? Who decides? Politicians? David Duke? The mayors church? The Texas Schoolboard?
I think it is enough to call him a liar. The suppression of free speech by persons unknown is not good for Amemrica.

They deport him, which they should, but keep the Neo Nazi party in their country? They are anti Semitic and deny the holocaust also. This doesn't make any sense. Deport them all to Israel.
