PRAGUE — Czech authorities have released former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke from detention and ordered him to leave the country.

Police spokeswoman Katerina Rendlova says Duke must leave the Czech Republic by midnight Saturday after he was detained on suspicion of denying the Holocaust.

Duke was in Prague on an invitation from a neo-Nazi group to promote the Czech translation of his book "My Awakening." Police took him into custody Friday on suspicion of denying the Holocaust, which is a crime in the Czech Republic.

Prague's Charles University also banned Duke from giving a lecture there Friday. He was scheduled to give lectures over the weekend in both Prague and the country's second-largest city of Brno.

Not if we add him to the no fly list and do not allow him back in the country!

Diplomats and dignitaries have political immunity while visiting other nations on official business. Ex-politicos that's a whole 'nother story - If I were anyone in the Bush administration I'd re-think traveling beyond Disneyland and Disneyworld.

What's with the hammer and sickle Obamalicious? To me showing that hated symbol, at least in my family.... and they have good reason to hate it, is not a trendy avatar. You might want to rethink using that as a means of identifying yourself.

He's lucky to be getting out of Prague alive. They used to kill Nazis in Prague:

I'll bet ten dollars to a plugged nickle Duke didn't know that. In a way, I find THAT encouraging. That and the fact that most of these guys would have never made it INTO the SS beccause they weren't racially pure enough.INCLUDING Duke.

Into the SS you are right but the citizens of the Czech portion of Czechoslovakia were one of the very few Slavic groups that Hitler was going to allow to be Germanized so that this population would be incorporated into the Reich and not be an occupied zone.

We could call it Hated Celebrity Survivor: Khyber Pass. Get him, Michelle Bachmann, Rushbo, Beck Laura Ingraham and Billo. Parachute them all into Quetta in the Pakistani Northwest Frontier with nothing but a Swiss Army knife. Their goal, cross the Pamirs and reach Kabul. Just like Danny and Peachy:

A is a member of D and was formerly a member of C. B is a member of C and E. Therefore any member of D should support B because B is a member of a group that once included A.

While it would be much, much easier to put intentionally poor logicians in internment camps, and strip them of their rights, we instead deconstruct your fallacious logic hoping you'll realize the errors of your ways.

Denying the holocaust is ignorant and was a true crime of 60 years ago. The killing of the freedom of speech no matter how stupid the issue may be is a high crime today...sorry. Especially in a country that suffered under both Nazi and then Communist occupation it is truly suprising but then again maybe a lot of the totalitarian methods used by their occupiers have rubbed off on them and this is the reason that, no matter how repugnant the subject might be, it is better to police what you here and see. In these forms of government, the State always knows better than you do.

All that would make sense if the US had absolute freedom of speech - but it doesn't. You can be arrested for seditious speech and for soemthing like shouting "Fire" in a crowded, enclosed space like a theater.

Freedom of speech is a right afforded to Americans in the United States. Once you leave our borders, you're on your own and unlike the two journalists being held in North Korea, no one is fighting to get this putz back.

Cindy Sheehan, a U.S. citizen and courageous mother who sacrificed the life of her only son to Bush's war effort, was arrested Tuesday in the House of Representatives gallery for simply wearing a T-shirt.

Ms. Sheehan didn't utter a sound. She didn't carry a sign that might have blocked the view of others. She didn't create a disturbance. She was arrested ONLY for wearing a T-shirt. The T-shirt didn't contain profanity. It read simply, "2,245 Dead. How many more?"

USA the great freedom of speech

This past Tuesday? Be sure to check the date of articles you copy and paste. I believe this incident happened many years ago, when the former administration was warning Americans to be careful of what we say when criticizing the US.

David Duke is a reactionary loser... but punishing speech short of inciting violence or treason or the like is dangerous. "Suspicion" of denying the holocaust? That crime would not fly in America if, instead, someone were arrested on "suspicion" of supporting communism. Anyone remember the Red Scare?

Suspicion of terrorism is valid somehow.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:45 PM on 04/25/2009

Yes, because terrorism is a crime, and a terrible one at that. "Denying the holocaust" is not - well, should not be - a crime. Thinking about terrorism isn't a crime.

That's right.

They didn't "keep him" because there was an outcry in the CR to RELEASE HIM, and there was already 2 riots in the streets that included rock throwing and moltov cocktails.

People are growing TIRED AND WEARY of the EXPLOITATION of INDIGENOUS European lands.

:D
