Exceptions Are Proposed To Deadline Of Pullout From Iraq Cities

BAGHDAD -- The United States and Iraq will begin negotiating possible exceptions to the June 30 deadline for withdrawing American combat troops from Iraqi cities, focusing on the troubled northern city of Mosul, according to military officials. Some parts of Baghdad also will still have combat troops.

Why should we listen to the other side since it was the other side that created this mess and never resolved it. Bush left office without resolving the conflict in Iraq. He lost his ridiculous war. The hanging of Saddam was not a victory, the loss of tens of thousands of innocent cilivians will be Bush's legacy.

The Pentagon has no intention of giving up its bases in Iraq. The Pentagon doesn't "withdraw" anymore than does a melanoma; it exists to expand, metastasize, compromise, and eventually kill its host. It is that plain and simple. Something has to break here; either the will of the president (and of the people who elected him), or the people who run the Pentagon. For eight years the Pentagon did not hear any resistance to their plans, whether it be their budgets, their toys, their expansion, or their wars. At this point they are not going to give up easily. As patriots, and as people who love our country we have a duty to resist them. 9-11 happened because we wore out our "welcome" in Saudi Arabia. If General Odierno gets his way, we will be sowing the seeds for the next conflict. If you think that we are "safer" by overstaying our "welcome" in Iraq, then you deserve the coming results of that policy.
