Taliban Adultery Execution

Telegraph:

Their deaths were squalid, riddled with bullets in a field near their home by Taliban gunmen as the execution was captured on a mobile telephone.

In footage which is being watched with horror by Pakistanis, the couple try to flee when they realise what is about to happen. But a gunman casually shoots the man and then the woman in the back with a burst of gunfire, leaving them bleeding in the dirt.

This was a killing/murder according to "RELIGION", The Koran or Leviticus 20:10.... take your pick!

The Taliban are terrible.

But not the only ones who kill adulterers:

http://www.amitiesquebec-israel.org/texts/stoning.htm

"The stoning of women is practiced in Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia."

Let's declare war on them all! Right?

If only the Bush administration had treated these people more compassionately, they'd not resort to this sort of barbarism out of desperation.

Islamabad better wake up quick, or this will be the fate of their whole country. And to think, they do this to people who have allegedly committed adultery? I'd hate to think what they do to the guilty! Pure barbarians insistent on getting their way by any means. It seems pretty cowardly to shoot people in the back, but this is what people like this do. The totalitarian mind allows no independent thought and they only use religion as a justification for this.

If the penalty for adultery is death in these areas, why would you do that? Yeah, the rules sukk, but if my life depended on not running around on my spouse, I think I would just live within my marital vows.

Well, perhaps that's their version of 'protecting marriage'. In California they just protect it by banning gay marriage and allowing adultry.

Please be aware, the Taliban are extremists on the RIGHT wing of the political spectrum. This is what the GOP and the so called 'christian' right would look like if we let them...

Terrible!

Makes you want to wipe the Taliban off the face of the map, doesn't it?

Perhaps that's what it for.

Both sides use psychological warfare.

These videos are more likely to dehumanize the Taliban and motivate the Pakistanis to fight them.

or maybe it is what it is presented as.

Let's find out.

"dehumanize"? So now you're an apologist for the Taliban? Those poor "badly slandered and misunderstood" thugs?

When movies like "Road to 9/11" come out, then liberals hotly deny that they were ever soft on terrorist thugs. But when I see types like you talking the way you do every day, it reveals the sad reality of the situation. You act like the apologist for these misogynist thugs, but later on will hotly deny ever having been so.

There seem to be some rising Neo-Lib counterparts to the Neo-cons, who have very little in common with tradition liberal principles. The Taliban are not slandered, or misrepresented, or misunderstood. They are not the victims of any slander campaign. They really are that monstrous.

If you call yourself a liberal, then you're no liberal that I respect.

You deny the USA has used false flag operations to stir up the population against those the government wants to attack? You think other countries don't do it?

I'm not an apologist for any of this terrible behavior, but this is a stupid video for the Taliban to make, and a clever video for those who are against the Taliban.

Go ahead, let yourself be manipulated by hate.

You will be just like the millions throughout history to be driven like cattle into war.

For YEARS, the Taliban would take whole groups of people, dozens of people, to the soccer stadium in Kabul to be publicly executed either by the government, or by victims familys in cases where someone wronged someone else. They were taking the "eye for an eye" words of the Bible to the extreme. For years this went on, and for years it was publicly videotaped and dispersed for anyone to watch who wanted to watch.

Everyone here needs to watch that mini-series "Beneath The Veil" that was done by Sairah Shah. In that you get to see some of the most awful, inhumane things that humans are capable of. From watching a guy who killed someone, being held down and having his throat slit by the victim's family and they then kick and spit on him as he lays there writhing on the ground dying. Or shot in the head, or force over and beheaded with a sword so that you can see the blood pouring out of the stump of their neck. Depending on the crime, killings were carried out by the govt or victim's family.

And even after 7 years of that going on, in full view of the rest of the world, who does Pakistan side with? THE TALIBAN.

From what I have heard about the Taliban, they are terrible. One of the worst. But I refuse to let myself be used as fodder for another war.

the bloodiest war in history was WW2, and that was not over religion. If people dont fight for religion, they'll fight for somthing else.

Not sure what intellectual level you operate on. But here goes.
Many ( if not all) religions have been created to regulate social functions within societies. Primarily to control and mute innately savage human nature. A control mechanism of sorts. Used to prevent any given society from imploding or exploding. It's is easier to control the wild elements ( or mob urges) via appeal to some Higher Authority. There may be so evolutionary element to it.
Generally it works fairly well on that plane, but with notable persistent exceptions of hyper violent behavior..
Especially notorious are the Followers-of -the-Book.

It is debatable that societies without some kind of morality code and appeals to deity would be better functioning or better behaved. At least up to current stage of human development of consciousness.

P.S. Atheist societies like Soviet Union, China and 40s Germany had their own axiomatic versions of Higher Source.

Atheistic societies? Really? My understading of history is that these totalitarians dimsantled religious systems in order to place themselves into a position of "worship".

A personailty cult if you will. I can find no evidence that atheism in and of itself was the root cause of such violence.

That was a very well thought post. However, in modern societies, the rule of law (where ever it originated from) subdues most savage behavior. Many Muslim nations have theocratic laws that are crude, barbaric, oppressive and antiquated. Most societies have evolved, but many (not all) Muslim countries have failed to evolve. For reasons unknown (or to be theorized) those such countries have chosen not to enter the civilized era.

Those crude ways of "controlling" society are outdated, yet they still chose to hold on to it. We should not justify those primitive methods. They should be condemned.

p.s. I would remind you that the USSR, China and 40's Germany were NOT atheist. That is completely fabricated propaganda and you know it. For example, at the end of Stalin's reign there was some 22,000 Church's spread across the entire Soviet Union. In China, they still cling dearly to their "forbidden city", which is central to their Bhuddist ways. The Forbidden City was the seat of power for the terrestrial emperor, who was the "celistial emperor's" (i.e. God's) counterpart on Earth. Also, why did Adolf himself have his own personal Cardinal and Vatican representative if he was in fact atheists? Many of the things he propagandized, was religious themes and motifs. Such as the "round table" design in one of his mountain retreats based off the legends of King Arthur, Holy Grail, the Teutonic Kinghts and other things. In can't believe in 2009, with the education systems we have, that people would still be naive enough to believe the things you espouse. But then, winners write the history, at least in their home country. Perhaps more of us should get a foreign education to round us out and keep us from being forever ignorant. Been there, done that.

Oh, I forget, the "higher source" part. That explains it perfectly. You Christianized holy roller right wing republican extremists believe that your way is the only way. Any other religion, or strain of religion, is "atheist". Even Islam and Judaism, which are based on the very same things that Christianity is. And what happens when the muslims are wiped out? Who will be the only one left standing? Christianity or Judaism? And believe me, when it gets to that point, they will happily war on each other. Just another glorified "my God is better than your God" argument in the final battle, Armageddon, in which mankind wipes itself out due to pure ignorance and stupidity. Not on the orders of, or the wishes of, some celestial being or God. Human ignorance combined with human savagery is what will bring it all to that end. For a so-called "Christian nation", we Americans love doing very barbaric things. Dropping bombs on innocent civilians. Planting landmines for playing kids to stop on when they fetch their soccer ball. We are nothing more than the same callous killers we were when we invented things like the guillotine and sword. Butchery, no matter what you choose to call it or rationally explain it away, is STILL butchery.

The Taliban surly need to be removed from the face of the planet, this is horrific..they were elderly people who did not deserve this. Adulterous couple I have my doubts, from the fear you can gather in that woman's eye they were murdered for standing up for themselves. I am seeing more and more of this kind of rule by the Taliban in the tribal belt region. And we cannot let them get away with this and if we all need to join up to fight against them then we all need to. Britain and other European nations are going to let sharia law happen in parts of their country...so one day in the near future a organization in America will push for the same thing in some suburb somewhere here in the states. I read a graphic novel years ago called the Big book of Thugs. With true tales of gangs and mafias from long ago I came upon a story from India of a large gang in the early 1900's that would go around murdering, raping, kidnapping etc..etc. It got so bad that the Brits ruling them then had to literally send out a "decree" to eradicate the whole group which was numbered in the tens of thousands. Call it what you will but that is exactly what the Taliban need.

Why is this news? This happens every single Friday afternoon in Saudi Arabia. We look the other way even though the executions over there are even more brutal.
In our oil-rich ally Saudi Arabia, death comes to adulterers by way of decapitation and stoning in an open public forum for all to watch.

I agree the Saudi's are hella brutal in the hate for anything normal. With that said Exxon Mobile, Royal Dutch Shell and the rest of the oil baron companies feel as long as oil flows freely no need for a civil rights movement in the Kingdom.
