Taliban Adultery Execution

Telegraph:

Their deaths were squalid, riddled with bullets in a field near their home by Taliban gunmen as the execution was captured on a mobile telephone.

In footage which is being watched with horror by Pakistanis, the couple try to flee when they realise what is about to happen. But a gunman casually shoots the man and then the woman in the back with a burst of gunfire, leaving them bleeding in the dirt.

This is religion at it's worst and you have to remember America has similar types who don't advocate this type of treatment at present but then they aren't the majority as yet so who knows what they would practice if they in fact were the majority. Their ideology isn't much different.

Absolutely true. Think of the killers of those who would allow women to have free choice.

Genius quote.

I have no problem with Wiccans, though. Or Buddhists.

So much for religion. The Puritans reacted on unproven acquisitions also. What can you say about many religious people that believe they have the answer, and answer to their mythological god carrying out demands supposedly demanded by their god. There is, and has been more horrific actions taken by religious groups than any other since time began.

if you are referring to the witchcraft prosecutions, it was hardly a Puritan thing. Witches were prosecuted all over the place. The numbers in Europe dwarf the colonial cases. As for England and its colonies, Witchcraft was a crime under common law. Bad magic was widely believed in in many places.

We only know that two people got wacked, there are claims of adultery; however, we really don't why? In any case, it is a public relations disaster for the Taliban. My condolences to families of the victims'. There is no bright spot to this story, however I'm glad to see that their bodies were not mutilated, that, my friends, is progress!

This is not a PR disaster.

Who do you think was taking the video, and who do you think released it? Now ask yourself why?

Videos like this are taken and released so people will see what will happen to them if they defy the Taliban. It's ruling by fear. It's terrorism.

Sean Penn never condoned protecting the Taliban.

Americans would never do such a thing.

They would rather bomb a wedding party and say ''oops'' ...some people even laughing about it.

Or tie battery cables to some guys testicles and giggle about it.

Or hoot and holler when one of their guided weapons hits its mark at a Pentagon briefing.

What is wrong with the citizens of a country already living in squalor. Why don't they rise up and beat these Taliban members to death with their bare hands. THAT video I would gladly watch.

How sick and disgusting is it that people do this king of thing in the name of religion. The Taliban are nothing more than a gang of cold blooded murderers.

Saudi Arabia has been doing stuff like this for who knows how long, yet it goes unreported by most media because Saudi Arabia is a supposed ally and don't forget about the oil. Then we hear about this going on in Afghanistan/Pakistan and we're outraged. It's wrong not to condemn all who practice these tactics rather just the ones that are politically convenient to keep the public angry at who we're at war with.

Notice the USA media always tries to keep Americans hating someone and foaming at the mouth for more war.

Its the modus operandi of the military industrial complex.

But heaven forbid anyone criticize the USA for their inner fascism.

You may be right; however, we need to pursue these actions one country at a time. If the people of Pakistan rejected the Taliban, it may give the average Saudi the courage to question their sheiks and mullahs. As a woman, I am willing to support the struggle for equal rights whenever and wherever possible. I think that the statement made by the college professor was "right on" and hope that she is supported by her countrypeople.

I agree. However, it doesn't take away from the fact that the Taliban is a brutal, misguided anachronism. The thing is, what to do about it. I feel that, if left to their own devices, they will simply disappear eventually. They shun education (other than the study of the Koran). If they take control of any country it will eventaully wither and die. Unfortunately, countless innocent people will go down with it and that's not acceptable. Their strength seems to be the ability to recruit disaffected young men. How do the more enlightened in Pakistan and Afghanistan convince these young men that The Taliban is not the answer? Before they can do that, they first must get rid of the corrupt institutions that drive these young men into the arms of The Taliban.

Makes waterboarding seem rather trivial, huh? And while we bicker over who authorized what, the cancer called the Taliban continues to spread...

No, it actually doesn't make waterboarding seem trivial. By utilizing torture techniques, it means we're stooping to the level of the kind of barbarism we're supposedly fighting.

No, it doesn't! In fact just the opposite, makes an official directive of our government to look like that of the Taliban. You can’t win with them by becoming like them.

We cannot eradicate the Taliban in their own territory. America cannot afford to right every single wrong in the world and deplete our resources, no matter how noble the quest. What we should do is what should have been done years ago: find other sources of energy. While we piddle about Cuba, our great ally Saudi Arabia continues to allow attrocities like these against its citizens.

NO, this does not trivialize the US government's use of torture. This makes the previous administration as low as the Taliban.

Give your head a shake.

These Barbarians use religion simply as an excuse to kill. Nice laws they abide by. One day this scourge will be eradicated and the sooner the better.
