Taliban Adultery Execution

Telegraph:

Their deaths were squalid, riddled with bullets in a field near their home by Taliban gunmen as the execution was captured on a mobile telephone.

In footage which is being watched with horror by Pakistanis, the couple try to flee when they realise what is about to happen. But a gunman casually shoots the man and then the woman in the back with a burst of gunfire, leaving them bleeding in the dirt.

It's time to end religion once and for all. what better way to do it than show this kind of horror to the public.

Religion is the root of all evil:

Millions killed in its name
People treated as less than human because of the ideas of ancient men whose relevance to today is ZERO.
Land stolen and acquired in a supposed religious figure's name

Religion is a scourge on peace and on people accepting one another.

Uh, right. Because people who attend church on Sunday will decide that what they do is hor.rible because some nut.cases across the globe have turned their reli.gion into a radi.ical poli.itcal movement.

Study the history of Christianity and see what you find. The behavior of Europeans has been no different over the centuries.

Then those among the Muslims who see this happening need to denounce, shame and prosecute those who espouse these views...anything less is cowardice and a condoning of the Taliban's uncivil and irrational views.

unfortunately for the world there many millions of the crazy ones, and they're very well funded by a billion of "normal" Muslims who are taught that spread of Islam is a good thing,

Then, by your statement, Islam is the problem. If those "normal" Muslims were not funding this, it would not be happening on this scale.

My thoughts exactly. If they don't believe this crap themselves then why deal with it? Could it be that rational Muslims are the minority in these places? Fight back, instead having the U.S. do it for you.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:56 AM on 04/27/2009

your argument may have worked 5 years ago but no more - Muslims should rise up and stop this themselves - but they do NOT - they only say " Islam is peaceful " as the barbaric slaughter continues.

Taliban guys are corrupt thieves, hypocrites and killers.
I am FOR killing every one of them as soon as possible.

The Taliban behave like a PLAGUE OF KILLER COCKROACHES
who support Osama bin Ladin in Afghanistan.

It is past time to DESTROY THE TALIBAN.
They proved that they deserve it.

It HAS to start with Pakistan granting the tribal areas FULL INDEPENDENCE so that they become a separate nation. That way if war is declared it won't be war against Pakistan.
The Islamic Emirates of Waziristan should be immediately recognized as a sovereign nation ASAP.

I agree.
You can't destroy a mindset but you can force that mindset to think of its own best options for survival. A biting dog won't stop biting, but after it gets stung a few times by a porcupine it tends to go away and look for easier targets.
If it doesn't then you have no choice but to kill the dog.
That might not sound very loving, but apparently those are the two choices we have.

Great, these fanatics are poised to take control of Pakistan and with it, Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. Bush had the chance to stop this back in 2003 but he chose to invade Iraq instead. The possession of nuclear weapons by a group as radical as this is unprecedented. These guys make Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong Il look like Charles DeGaul. They'll use them against India first and it will get worse from there.

Is this the couple who wanted to elope but she was betrothed (against her will) to someone else? This is tragic that the intimate drama of a young couple become political fodder for ANY group of religious extremists. I hope they are together somewhere.

Yes, it is terrible. Terrible things like this happen in many parts of the world. But, and a big But, our intervening through military means or otherwise will not stop it, and may in fact exacerbate things. Case in point would be Somalia, which had calmed down under a strict Islamic government. But we supported Ethopia in invading the country to depose them, and now there is complete chaos just like before. In the end these cultures need to sort out their own problems.

I'm on the fence here. While I tend to be a believer in the Prime Directive, seeing something like this makes me just want to go out and punish. Hopefully someday the people of these nations will rise up against this kind of fanaticism. Only time will tell.

although it sad, i try and recommend it to people because it shows how complex it is there.

when i read some of the more ex.treme comments (saying that if people decide to have the taliban as leadership they deserve the consequences)... the documentary shows that most are bul.lie.d through fe.ar, vio.lence and lack of education due to poverty. it grows one small area at a time... viewing the documentary is sad but priceless in increasing understanding of the issue in a short amount of time.

It is clear that the Taliban, Al Qaida and their ilk are enemies of our liberal democracies - do we hold the line or fall back? Can Conservatives and Liberals find common ground?

And how many billions are we going to give Pakistan, when they have no government capable or willing to stop these atrocities?
The Mid-East has always been a bloody fighting place, filled with factions who hate each other.
Here's an idea: Let's make a plan to get out and stay out. From all of it. There will never, ever be peace there; there never has been and there never can be because of the competing religions who all want political power and to take over other territories.
Let them fight it out. We've shed enough blood and money over the years. And if terrorism comes toward us, take it out with bombers, not boots on the ground.
Enough.
I'm also starting to think the same of the unending wars in Africa, where all the food to save starving infants a generation ago has raised up more thugs, more men who beat and "circumsize" = "castrate" women and spread HIV and violence. It just never ends.
American should look after itself just now. We can't save the whole world and we have to stop throwing good lives and money down these ratholes of hatred and violence.
