Joan Rivers Goes Mama Bear Defending Melissa

NEW YORK — Think twice before crossing Melissa Rivers _ her mother might just step in and chew you out.

Joan Rivers unleashed an earful of insults after Donald Trump fired her daughter on "The Celebrity Apprentice."

Rivers' targets: poker champ Annie Duke and Playboy pinup Brande (BRAND-ee) Roderick.

Melissa Rivers, who appeared with her mom on the NBC show, claimed the two formed an alliance against her. She called them "pit vipers."

Joan Rivers launched into mama-bear mode, calling Roderick a "stupid blonde" and Duke a "white trash" poker player. She called the duo "a Nazi and a follower."

NBC representative Amanda Ruisi didn't immediately return phone and e-mail messages seeking comment. Donald Trump could not immediately be reached.

Jim Cramer is a suck up. It was amazing how he changed his mind after Trump passed him a note. I think Trump was worried Jim wouldn't follow script. He knew Ivanka would do his bidding. Joan was great and the two mean girls got what was deserved. However, I think Melissa was more mad at the producer's and the editors didn't want us to know this. The shot that showed Melissa limping and Brande saying she was crazy was a cruel and crude set-up by the producers. I hope rosie is sending flowers to Joan today!

I too love Joan and Melissa, I was very disappointed when I saw they were going on The Donald's show. Joan and Melissa you are both strong, bright women why would you do anything that had to do with a women hating jerk like Trump? Why any women has anything to do with him is beyond me.

At least with Joan and Mellisa there was some smarts and entertainment.
Now all that's left is dull and duller.

I love Joan. Someone once asked me if I could have dinner with any female star in Hollywood who would it be and I chose Joan (assuming of course she wanted to) because I thought she would be the best date anyone could have. Intelligent, funny, interesting and stories that would probably curl the hair of anyone listening.

i hate the show but i think in a strange way it has given me glimpse into some parts of the REAL Joan Rivers and realized that she actually is not the raging b.itch she always portrays herself to be. In fact, I've grown to like Joan Rivers a bit more now and admire her for her love and protection of her daughter despite their tumultuous past.

A mother's love is truly powerful and profound.

Joan and Melissa were the BEST THINGS on that stupid show. BOTH are marketing geniuses (so is Jesse, too). But Joan and Melissa have STYLE, class and wit. Annie and Brande ARE pit vipers and the DONALD is getting WHAT HE deserves --for first first FIRING Kardashian ... and now, MELISSA.

NOBODY is going to watch his stupid last two shows. THE ONLY REASON Annie won the IVANKA jewelry auction WAS BECAUSE MELISSA picked the jewelry and the CLOTHES.

WHAT'S TO WATCH with no Joan or Melissa ??? NOTHING. AND donald really thinks he has all the answers. WHEN HE GOES BELLY-up which has so OFTEN happened, he blames everybody else.

AT least the programs on OPPOSITE Apprentice will do well the next two Sundays.

I agree, Joan and Melissa were the heart of the show. Joan Rivers has been stomping through the tulips for as long as I can remember. Abrasive, ornery, mean-spirited, generally anti-social....and then I started watching her on Apprentice and noticed the magical transformation into a caring and appealing interesting and more importantly interested woman. Whoever her guru is they know their stuff. I hope she sticks around and at least gives "Thelma and Louise" their comeuppance.
