Obama

During their first hundred days in office, American presidents are under a constant microscope, often facing some of the most consequential and highly-analyzed moments of their presidencies, as was the case with the assassination attempt on President Reagan and with President Kennedy's bungled Bay of Pigs in Cuba.

The hundredth day of Obama's presidency is this Wednesday, April 29. Pundits across the nation will be rating the president's successes and failures. But we want to hear something more personal from our readers. What did President Obama do in the first 100 days that personally affected you? Did a bill he signed have an impact on your life? Did you meet the president? Or interact personally in some way with his administration? Email us in 150 words or less (not including links) to submissions+100@huffingtonpost.com by Wednesday at 9am EST.

We also want to hear your ideas for the next hundred days. What should Obama's top priority be? What single thing would you ensure gets done, that you worry Obama may avoid or overlook? Tell us in 150 words or less.

Email submissions+100@huffingtonpost.com with either "Last 100 Days" or "Next 100 Days" in the subject line, depending on your focus. (You are encouraged to send an email on each.) If you favor the visual medium, feel free to send in a YouTube video submission of two minutes or less. This can be you talking into the camera or something more creative. The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday morning at 9am Eastern Standard Time.

We'll publish the most insightful and well argued submissions on Wednesday.

For days I go to the Athenian of Barcelona to attend a conference of ex--ambassador the USA Ambler Moss on the 100 first days of Obama. The title it can be to be 100 first days without Bush, the change that experiences its great country with Obama causes that from Europe it becomes to see the USA by his morality and defense of the democracy, the hope of a better world with Obama is overwhelming in Europe. Thanks to choose Obama.

So far I am not impressed with Mr Obama, unemployment is still going up and there is no end in sight. His agenda is a disaster, he wants everyone to have health care and he wants to pay for it by punishing people who are succesfull by taxing them in order to help those who don't work or don't want to work and reward them with health care. He goes around the world knocking his own country, telling people that we are arrogant. His dept of homeland security attacks veterans, calling them potential terrorists, that should make our veterans feel good. But I can sleep at night cause I did not vote with my fears and pocket book.

Tripped on the starting blocks, got winded halfway through the race, and now realizes he is in way over his head.

Palin & Bobby Jindal in 2012.

Just so Obama can kick their butts from the south to the north.

You go Pres, keep up the good work.

I sometimes think where would this country be if Mccain/Palin would have won, well for one I would have left. Thank god I did not have to make that choice. I hope we make the right choice when he can no longer be president, after two terms because I can't imagine our country without him.

I shudder to think what would have happened in the first 100 days of McCain/Palin.

What if something happened to McCain during the presidency that would no longer allow him to do his job. GHOST TOWN!

President Obama, you have accomplished a great deal, but most of what you have accomplished is not progressive it is center like the economy, that is good don't get me wrong, or placating the right like your posture on torture and the other criminal activity of the Bush criminal enterprise. Further, you have maintained the faith based program which is a clear violation of the separation of church and state and you have turned your back on the rights of those subjected to police action. No Mr. Obama, I am not impressed, you juggle well, but the act is more a slight of hand and misdirection than anything else. My support is not with you at this time.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:45 AM on 04/28/2009

Oh geez - where to start:

He's never been more than center left.

He will let the Justice department deal with the torture issue - he doesn't want it to come from the White House itself. Let it play out for a little longer before grousing. (also the other issues with the Bush administration)

The faith based programs - please look up what these actually DO! He says that churches, etc. can get money from the gvt. if they don't discriminate in hiring. They can run programs that are independent of their religious aspects. Churches, synagogues, and other religious institutions provide an astonishing lot of help to the underprivileged.

Do you not prefer a man who is trying hard although not 100% according to your *personal* opinion, to someone who skitters from one opinion to another as the rightwing commands? Who HAS your support right now?

First off, I support the Constitution, therefore I do not support giving tax dollars to religious organizations for any reason, they have tax exempt status and the collection plate for that, which is more than enough. Same with FISA.

As for support, I believe either Kuchinich or Edwards would be a better choice from a Constitutional perspective.

As for torture, he has already stated that he will provide amnesty for the CIA agents that were "just following orders", the old Nuremberg defense, one that has never ever been given credence until now. That is condoning war crimes.

We are very lucky to have such a brilliant, eloquent, well mannered and wellk intended guy in the white house. He is for the people and not just the upper 5 %.

His family and his values border on perfect.

This is why the GOP hates him. They have nothing even close.

President Carter will go down in history as one of the better Presidents of the last century, better than Bonzo Reagan the dementia poster boy from 1980; Iran's hero and weapons supplier along with the traitors Ollie North and George HW Bush.

I've been very pleased with President Obama for most of the past 100 days but have to admit to some extreme disappoint with him in two areas. One his refusal or reluctance to pursue an investigation in to the torture of detainees but even more so with the Department of Justice brief that was filed expanding immunity from lawsuits to government employees who conducted illegal surveillance and wiretapping.

I'm really disappointed that he seems to be following the Bush administrations practices and that was one of the changes I voted for.

You are extremely naive.

Explain his appointments to us. All of them. Do you know them?

Explain FISA

Explain his DOJ and torture.

Explain Iraq

Explain Afghan and Pakistan

Explain Butch & Gang, Mr O's views on how to handle them. Ooops, before you speak, find out the FACTS.

I could go on ........ and on ......... and on.

Why cant you be fair? Obama has made some good appointments and some not so good. He has issued an executive order outlawing torture. He has ordered secret CIA sights closed. He released the memos authorizing torture. He has said he intends to Close GITMO in a year. With respect to Afghanistan and Pakistan Obama has fulfilled his campaign promise (which by the way I disagreed with) to make the region his focus in the fight against people who attacked us on 9/11/01. He has committed funds for the care of the veterans. He was able to get through congress a good stimulus bill. And as to FISA, he took the position before he was elected and received his lumps from the progressives. In my book Obama has done quite well, though not perfect. I am thankful that he is the President and not the imperialist George Bush or the unstable John McCain. I too could go on......and on about Obama's remarkable achievement in just 100 days! I challenge you to show me a president in the past 50 years who has done more than he has in the same time frame.

Well, here is one promise that he has not kept, so there are huge protests at the White House by seniors and people with disabilities whom he promised and asked us to trust him.

President Obama has dis respected his promise to people with disabilities,PWDs, and has not included us in his Health Care Reform. Today 91 protesters were arrested at the White House Gate where they had chained themselves.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbaDh8Ywf-s

Seniors and PWDs should be able to choose where to live, and should not be forced into expensive nursing homes or other institutions or lose their health care.

Obama has failed to take the lead on making sure the Community Choice Act is included in his health reform. Would he leave out African Americans, or Catholics? people with disabilities are a protected class, and we should not be left out.

President Obama fails to lead on Community Choice Act

Tell the President and your Representatives that CCA must be part of healthcare reform!
This morning, ADAPT met with Nancy-Ann DeParle, the Obama administration"s healthcare czar (Counselor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Health Reform). Despite featuring the Community Choice Act (CCA) prominently in the presidential campaign, President Obama"s administration, including Ms. DeParle, has again demonstrated that they are unwilling to take leadership and capitalize on the promise of healthcare reform to pass CCA. ADAPT has been part of prior meetings with the Obama administration which also failed to yield any commitment to call for CCA to be part of healthcare reform.

Please, give this president a break?! He has more on his plate than any other new president has faced!!! He is methodically addressing the extremely serious issues that face our country and the world. You certainly should be able to recognize by now that he is a man of his word and will address all issues that he campaigned on as he has the time and resources to do so! Has any other recent president come close to moving through issues at the pace this president has had to do! Please have patience with him and be confident that he hears your voices!!!!!

So you believe that he should go ahead and pass health care reform, and leave out people with disabilities?

What if he decided to leave out African Americans? or Cathlicks?

Should not health care reform be just that, inclusive? Why should health care reform not include people with disabilities?

Why would indluding people with disibilities in health care reform hurt Obama?
