Buchanan: GOP A "Heavily White Party"

Pat Buchanan acknowledged to MSNBC anchor Tamron Hall on Tuesday that his party is facing a severe "demographic problem" in the years to come -- specifically, the GOP is on its way to becoming an all-white party.

"There's a real demographic problem with the Republican Party," Buchanan said. "It is a heavily white party, quite frankly. And as a share of the electorate, that is diminishing and Hispanics are growing very rapidly, Asians are growing rapidly, and by two-thirds they tend to vote Democratic."

Buchanan told Hall that the party is losing young people as well.

"Young people increasingly are more liberal and more socially moderate, and they move away from the Republican Party," he said. "These things are undeniable, the Republican party ... is in tough shape."

But Buchanan said the party shouldn't be written off just yet, and said Republicans have made impressive comebacks from deep deficits before.

I went though the Goldwater disaster, when we were down to 140 House seats and we were dead forever, and I came with Nixon in '66 and we won 47 House seats and we won 5 out of the next 6 presidential elections. I don't think that's necessarily in the cards, but I think it'd be foolish at this point when Obama is at his peak, really, to write off the Republican party for 2010.

This Pat Buchanan guy once stated during one of the MSNBC shows that Democrats are very lousy with Mexican immigrants because, the Democrats are aware that the poor immigrants will end up voting for the Democratic Party. In other words, the GOP is for rich white folks. Why is he complaining now? Is he suffering from retrograde amnesia from the ongoing devastation of the Republican Party?

there problem is they can't sell their message of fear, hate, and intolerance as well to younger people.

in general:
young people don't hate gay people like the hard-core GOPers. live and let live.
even young people understand that abstinence only programs don't work (even Bristol Palin knows that)
most young people aren't rich, so they don't necessarily support the rich at the expense of everyone else.
young people want to save the environment, even they know that you can only destroy the planet we live on for so long.
young people like diversity, they're not immediately afraid of different things.
young people don't want people/religion telling them what they can and cannot do

the GOP is losing the young demographic, and in a few years, they won't be voting for the intolerant GOP.

. . . . and what a great Architect he turned out to be. Notice that I he didn't mention the demographics of Black People. However, I guess that was the plan all along. Become dominant in the demographics for Southern Whites at the expense of Blacks -- and now we see how that is working for them.

Maybe next time he and others will want to leave that title "Architect" to those who are just that.
