Plouffe

In an email blasted out to supporters Tuesday morning, Barack Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe framed the president's hundred days in office as a "largely symbolic" metric but one that contains "remarkable" achievements.

In the Organize for America email, Plouffe also announced the launch of a new website that provides a state-by-state breakdown of the benefits bestowed by the administration's policies (though the source of the data isn't noted), as well as personalized stories of struggle and recovery from around the country.

"We've made crucial investments to create jobs and improve education, energy, and health care," reads the Plouffe email. "All of this is a down payment for a new economic vision -- one where skilled workers fuel our economy rather than debt and speculation; one where American leadership on clean energy fuels 21st century innovation; and one where families and businesses are no longer weighed down by crushing health care costs."

The email is solid proof that even as the White House dismisses the 100 days mark as the 'Hallmark Holiday' of political journalism, Obama's apparatus is taking advantage of the immense symbolic opportunity. The week ahead -- save for media focus on swine flu and bungled Air Force One photo-ops -- will be filled with largely positive reviews for the president. Plouffe's interactive map, which is being blasted to OFA's 13-million person list, helps localize those stories.

THE FULL LETTER:

Tomorrow will mark the President's hundredth day in office. A lot of attention will be given to this largely symbolic day, and the truth is that what we do every day after it will be just as important -- if not more. But our accomplishments in this time have been remarkable, and they're having real effects on people and communities throughout the country.

You built the movement that made this possible, and it's up to you to show Americans that real change can happen when ordinary citizens work together.

Explore this interactive map to learn about the progress we've made in the last 100 days and the stories of real Americans whose lives have already been touched. Then spread the word by passing it along to your friends and family.

With the country in crisis, the President took office and acted quickly to restore confidence and stability to our economy. But just as important were the steps we've taken toward building a new foundation for our prosperity, so that we never go back to the system that led us to crisis in the first place.

In just one hundred days, we've made crucial investments to create jobs and improve education, energy, and health care. All of this is a down payment for a new economic vision -- one where skilled workers fuel our economy rather than debt and speculation; one where American leadership on clean energy fuels 21st century innovation; and one where families and businesses are no longer weighed down by crushing health care costs.

Delivering on the promise of change is the reason we built this movement. Now, President Obama is counting on all of us to build support for this foundation and create a lasting recovery for America.

Take a look now at these critical first steps we've taken together and pass it on for others to see:

This new direction would not have been possible without you. But our biggest tests are yet to come, and the future is ours to shape. Let's seize this moment together so history will show that, at this defining crossroads, a generation of Americans put their country on the path to long-term security and prosperity.

Thank you,
David Plouffe

For days I go to the Athenian of Barcelona to attend a conference of ex--ambassador the USA Ambler Moss on the 100 first days of Obama. The title it can be to be 100 first days without Bush, the change that experiences its great country with Obama causes that from Europe it becomes to see the USA by his morality and defense of the democracy, the hope of a better world with Obama is overwhelming in Europe. Thanks to choose Obama.

Plouffe said Obama's first 100 days were "remarkable?" I'm shocked. Totally shocked.

Don't be so "shocked". It just means that they were worthy of "remark", as they are.

Thank's, David, I did recieve the email from you, it's great to be kept in the loop.

Obama has done remarkable things, not the least of which is using his considerable skills, to keep the ball moving when meeting with resistance.

However, myself, and millions of Americans living with serious disibilities, are shocked and disapointed that the Community Choice Act was not included in the planned Health Care Reform.

We are not shocked, however, that 91 of OUR PEOPLE were arrested yesterday, while chained to the White House Gates. This is not the first time that ADAPT activists have taken courageous action to get our issues seen and heard. Even the patheticly little coverage of the incident, yeaterday, where 400 people using wheelchairs, came to the White House, seeking the change we were promised and voted for, is not unexpected. Out of sight-out of mind is the SOP when dealing with those with serious disabilities. Even the HP failed to carry this story on it's main page.

Can Obama, and the Dems, really talk about change we can believe in, then leave behind some 20% of Americans? Isn't that the very same old story that outraged folks after Hurricane Katrina?

The Change I can believe in is civil rights for all, not excluding PWDs.

We want the health care dollars to follow the people, and we do not want to be incarcirated for no crime, other than needing health care.

Please work with ADAPT to

Let our people go!

Anyone else loves that Plouffe is on the outside instead of inside the WH? Such a smart move on both him and Obama's part.

Yes, it's truly "remarkable" how much further in debt we are now than we were on Jan. 20th.

Debt that represents a concrete, constructive and much needed investment in America!

What did the Bush Administration invest in (other than mislead the nation into a destructive, tragic, counterproductive and unnecessary war, based on false pretenses)?

GW Bush was the worst POTUS to date.

Dear World:

We, the United States of America, your top quality supplier of the ideals of liberty and democracy, would like to apologize for our 2001-2008 interruption in service. The technical fault that led to this 8-year service outage has been located and the software responsible was replaced November 4. Early tests of the newly installed program indicate that we are now operating correctly, and we expect to be fully functional in the days and months after January 20. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the outage. We look forward to resuming full service and hope to improve in the years to come. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

The United States of America

Barack Obama entered the presidency promising a new kind of leadership in Washington, and after observing him for nearly 100 days in the White House, most Americans do say he is not your typical politician, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
